Wow! odd to be first... Probably by the time I post I won't be anymore. Inasmuch as I'd like to like everyone here instead of sniping at everyone here, I'm just gonna offer hugs:
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Bob}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}(for putting up with us)
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Lee}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} (for trying for the kinder, gentler way)
{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{GDAB'ers}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} (for being Awesome... :))

QT,
Thanks for your honest attempt to always maintain civility.
It's a rare quality in these times.

Heh, I was trying to figure what Biblical passage that might be (I do live in the south and get it by osmosis) when I turned my head to whine back at the dog and I saw the face. Doh. Good one, Jen.

Happy one back atcha, CC. Too drizzly here to dance naked (or is that only summer?)

Hello fellow Cescans. It's been a wacky week, hasn't it?

Could someone please throw shoes at the freakin' Sham Wow guy?
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 8:22 PM
While you're at it, toss a Doc Marten at the Oxy Clean guy too.
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 8:23 PM
hey, Carl. How's the city holding up under all that....what - 6 inches?...of snow?
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 8:24 PM
Brrr its cold. Happy Winter!
Here's a little holiday cheer:

Well I say you can both go straight to hell! I've got two shoes... one for each of you!
Showed those guys. Heh.
Okay not really.

It's fine here. It froze over (mid 20's now) but the way Bloomberg was acting, you'd think it was going to be the the mother of all storms. And what REALLY pisses me off was he was insisting everyone take mass transit, when anyone who lives here will tell you, in a big storm, the subway system falls apart!
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 8:31 PM
Speaking of shoes, this is somehow gratifying:

Mystico,
Intertubes shoe throwing is ok, 'cuz I can dodge 'em even better than Dubya.
Good-natured insults are even ok.
There IS a line, tho.

>>Could someone please throw shoes at the freakin' Sham Wow guy?
It's made in Germany and you know they make good stuff.
Posted by: Travis D at December 20, 2008 8:40 PM
Packy, I heard Saturday night was alright for fighting, so I'm just tryin-a stir something up.
Oh wait... was it Friday nights that were alright for fighting? If that's the case please disregard anything insulting I may have said.
On the other hand, if it is Saturdays... nice...font... punk...
yeah I got nothing.
Posted by: EL Mystico at December 20, 2008 8:42 PM
Yeah, Travis. WTF is up with that? (altho, I admit, German Chocolate Cake is mighty tasty)
And I never saw an Olympic diver use one.

>>Yeah, Travis. WTF is up with that? (altho, I admit, German Chocolate Cake is mighty tasty)
Living near the Wernher Von Braun center, I can tell you that at least from a technology standpoint, Germany is a good place.

Sorry to be dense, but, what is "(8:l) "?
Packy, thanks!
DP, didn't get to reply to email, but will - anyway, thanks for sharing. How are you?

I'm all worn out from sniping and fighting, and I've been hypersensitive all week - today is really the final straw. Honest to pete, I'm kinda all crybabyish today. See you guys tomorrow I hope.

Lived in Hans Beta's house in Ithaca as a kid = German atomic connection. Punchy on the longest day awaiting 7:04 a.m. EST for the turning and returning of the light. Hope it's a turn around for the Whole Loved Planet . . . It's a choice.

From a pollution standpoint, not so much (erstwhile East Germany, anyway)

'Love Actually' is on the teevee right now, so I'm sniffling my way through that. It uses an entire container of Kleenex.
And Happy Winter Solstice to you too, CC.

Did ya see this:
A.C. Thompson of The Nation revealed that after Hurricane Katrina, white vigilante groups patrolled New Orleans, blockaded streets, and shot at least eleven black men. http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2008/12/video-report-white-vigilante-groups.html
Heckava job, Brownie.
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 9:18 PM
Seriously, Kat? It makes you cry?
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 9:22 PM
Ceu, it felt so incredible after 8 years of Arabian Horse FEMA hijinks to hear the PE appointing people who were extremely qualified for important positions. What a fucking concept.
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 9:30 PM
QT, tilt your head to the left and look at it.
Heh, it got me too until Dog intervened.
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 9:31 PM
Like a baby, Chris. I think I see myself in too many of the characters.
Posted by: Kat at December 20, 2008 9:33 PM
7:-)
Ronald Reagan
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 9:34 PM
And which is your favorite male character? (my daughter and I were just comparing them all & deciding...so we're including you in the conversation)
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 9:36 PM
That's an incredibly hard decision, Chris! Hugh Grant is a perfectly charming Hugh Grant character, and I love Natalie. I love the boy who is in love with Keira Knightley and the whole sign scene makes me all veclemt. But I think my favorite in Liam Neeson - for many reasons. One, he is deliciously hot and has been on my top 10 list since I was 18. And I adore the relationship he has with his stepson - I'm a total sucker for a man who is good with kids.
Posted by: Kat at December 20, 2008 9:45 PM
Enough with the crying, this will make you pee your pants.
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 9:52 PM
I didn't watch the girly-movie (has Hugh Grant ever been in anything that wasn't a girly-movie?), but did just finish watching Elf. I like the part where the title character gets the ex-cons in the mail room of the Empire State Building to laugh and dance to Christmas songs. We need more of that, I think.
Posted by: Alan4s at December 20, 2008 9:56 PM
QT, please make sure you do come back. A night or more off might help, but I, for one, really appreciate your calming and intelligent voice here. I'd miss it terribly if you left for good.
Posted by: Alan4s at December 20, 2008 9:59 PM
Nightmares for me tonight, Carl. That was creepy.
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 9:59 PM
Thanks for the oxycontin info, Chris. I have updated accordingly.
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 10:05 PM
Chris is passing the painkillers around? *holds up hand*
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 10:07 PM
Kat - Thanks for joining my followers list. A little ego stroking now and then is good for the soul.
"She thinks I'm cuuuuuuuute!"
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 10:07 PM
Me, too, Kat! I love the sign scene & when he walks away with "enough". but...Liam Neeson.
And the kid is such a sweetie. Daughter loves Sam and likes Jamie's character the most.
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 10:09 PM
Hey Carlos, what am I, Swiss cheese? I was follower number fourteen. And how do I find out if you are cute?
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 10:10 PM
DP - Chris brought this story to my attention to which I updated the following on my blog:
"It seems that Sherry Johnston's drug arrest is oxycontin related, which means that Rush Limbaugh will most likely vigorously defend her to his death, which in my opinion can't come soon enough. Still doesn't change the fact the Miss Wasilla is pallin' around with drug dealers."
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 10:11 PM
*hangs head* okay, follower 14 hasn't checked in since that was posted. *slinks away*
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 10:12 PM
Elf paradigm reminded me of Chaucy Gardener . . . committed to life-speak and the opposite of blogboyovich cool who speaks whatever he says unto death. It's the mirror projection world blasting out of every mouth.

DP - Thank you thank you tahnk you! I don't know if you're swiss cheese. Are you from Switzerland? But let me thank everyone from the bottom of my blogging heart (seriously) if you come to my blog on a regular basis. It's nice to know people like what they see enough to come back. And it also gives me a little incentive when I'm not feeling up to it on occasion.
As far as the cute thing goes, DP, you'll have to take my word for it. ;)
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 10:14 PM
Welcome, Carl. I should have worded it better but I .... didn't.
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 10:15 PM
I've checked in occasionally for a while now, Carl, I just haven't made it official. Do I get a ring now or something? And like DP said...we need proof of cuteness. :)
I'm about half way through my box o' Kleenex, Chris. The sign scene always makes me go through a bunch. The restaurant scene should finish the box.
By the by - since it was mentioned last night - if any of the regulars want to actually see what I look like, email me at GDABKat at yahoo dot com and I'll send you a link to a pic. Because I understand the curiousity.
Posted by: Kat at December 20, 2008 10:24 PM
Oooh, we get rings? Just like Cracker Jack. And I don't mind wondering about the cuteness as long as I like your blogging, which I do. And your Calvins. (Not Kleins). I bookmarked you early on because Chris would often link to you concerning whatever the topic was on here. I finally just took the plunge one day not long ago and the rest is #14 history.
Posted by: dontpanic23 at December 20, 2008 10:30 PM
Rings for everyone! You can email me at broadway [dot] carl [at] yahoo [dot] com for a dose of cuteness. I'll email Kat because I'm curious. :D
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 20, 2008 11:32 PM
I still get my $1000 along with the ring, tho, right, Carl?
Posted by: ceu at December 20, 2008 11:51 PM
Jeez, Chris! It's always give, give, give! What do I get in return?
Posted by: Broadway Carl at December 21, 2008 12:27 AM
A devoted reader?? And a fellow Mets fan. :)
Posted by: ceu at December 21, 2008 12:51 AM
Fair enough, Chris. Your check is in the mail.
