CHENEY FAVORABILITY RATING: 21% (12/08 NBC/WSJ poll)

One in five people still think favorably of this rat bastard. Stunning.

But... don't you realize how many times we all almost died, had Bushie not used the magic of torture and wiretaps to save us all?

Bush 31% approval rating? Really?....REALLY????.....

Who are these people and WTF is wrong with them?

Posted by: LameDuckHunting at January 8, 2009 1:50 PM

Lame,

I know this won't make sense to you, but from my conversations with certain people, they are thinking that Bush did right, and just in time, with the $700 B bailout. The key to staying away from a great depression in this nation has ALWAYS been its banks. If people lost confidence in the banks the party is over with. Waiting for Obama to deal with it would have been an absolute collosal mistake, one that may have given Obama an economy in full meltdown.

It's possible Bush' numbers rose because of that.

I'm just saying...

It's these kinds of numbers that help illustrate the pathology that is the Republican Party.

Is it safe to say that these 'favorability' ratings were taken prior to The Monkey and The Mad Goat giving their farewell interviews to the MSM at the end of December?

I KNOW those ratings are well below that now since both these assholes went on tv and told everybody, "yeah, basically we lied ... so what?"

Bob,

I want to see the numbers of newly created millionaires. Because all that money went somewhere. Money is like energy you can't destroy it, it is transferred somewhere. I am willing to bet that their are fewer millionaires now than then. I believe that the few rich just got richer.

3P - I'm an accountant and I've had those very same discussions. Absolutely, banks are key. I just can't imagine how anyone in their right mind could credit Bush for masterminding the bailout, although I know some do. Bush employs others to do the heavy thinking for him. I know he has an MBA (so do I), but every business he touched crashed and burned (not so I). Harvard should be effin' ashamed of its self........

There is so much about him to loath.....

@Lame

I'm with you. The other day, I was listening to NPR (talk of the nation I believe) and they were talking about Bush's legacy. There was a caller who basically called in and read the Fox "News" script. Bush has kept us safe since 9/11. He did not only the RIGHT THING in Iraq, but the most important work in the Middle East in history!

I have to wonder if these morons are just paid by the RNC or some PAC to call into shows, write letters to editors, etc. in order to document the positive view of Bush's legacy for posterity. Still, there are people in my own family who feel Bush will be vindicated by hindsight. Surely not the hindsight of those who have died in the Middle East or from a prevetable illness as a result of a lack of health care. No, no, surely not them.

Camel - Yes, indeedy! The first President of whom I was aware was JFK. In all the years since then, this is the first time I have witnessed an aggressive campaign to sell a Presidency in retrospect.

The fact that this AssHat actually needs a "Legacy Project" to accomplish that feat really has to tell you something..........

Posted by: LameDuckHunting at January 8, 2009 2:40 PM

theJoe - You may take some comfort in the knowledge that many of those newly minted millionaires took a pretty good hit in the last couple of months.

On the other hand, Bernie Madoff may have made off with most of it............

It really illustrates again how far in advance Republicans have been on the issue of facts versus messaging. Like so many others, it has driven me crazy for years to see them control a message with such ferocity that it becomes the truth. Democrats tend to flail under this misguided notion that people will come around to their way of thinking because they have facts on their side or they are, in fact, on the right side of most issues. Nope, it's all about controlling the message. The MSM always uses the Republican message as their base line and as long as that's the case, we'll always have to work to prove them wrong instead of being able to establish facts and make the Republicans disprove it. It's why there's a good chance this legacy project will do its job. Of course, the Interwebs has changed things a bit in our favor.
