Sarah Palin Is Saying Doofish Things Again
She thinks the establishment press was tougher on her than they've been on Caroline Kennedy.
See, the thing is, Sarah -- and I'll write slowly so you can follow along -- no-one knew who the hell you were or what you were all about. And when they began to find out, it turned out you were surrounded by a gigantic pile of hooey and scandals and weirdness.
On the other hand, the press has been following Caroline Kennedy's life and career since she was a small child. Everyone knows everything about her.
There's a difference. Get it?

...and she followed that up with:
“I did see that Tina Fey was named entertainer of the year and Katie Couric’s ratings have risen,” she said. “And I know that a lot of people are capitalizing on, oh I don’t know, perhaps some exploiting that was done via me, my family, my administration. That’s a little bit perplexing, but it also says a great deal about our society.”
I wonder if she understands that what really says a lot about our society is the fact that she was taken seriously as a candidate for a little while rather than being laughed immediately back to Alaska.

The biggest difference of them all being that Caroline Kennedy is a very intelligent, articulate person and Palin is as DUMB AS A BAG OF ROCKS!
Posted by: incredulous72 at January 8, 2009 2:38 PM
^Well, at least a bag of rocks could be useful for something.

The moosemeat must be tainted.

Maybe Sarah should pass the Bar exam before speaking anymore.
Posted by: Broadway Carl at January 8, 2009 2:47 PM
Yeah, poor, poor pitiful Sarah. So badly treated and so misunderstood.
Maybe we could come to understand you better if you spoke our language.............

"I know that John McCain will do that and I, as his vice president, families we are blessed with that vote of the American people and are elected to serve and are sworn in on January 20, that will be our top priority is to defend the American people."
Caroline Kennedy may, you know, use the phrase "you know" a little too much, you know, but at least she, you know, constructs actual, you know, sentences.

I know..............
Posted by: LameDuckHunting at January 8, 2009 2:54 PM
Here are a couple of other differences between Caroline Kennedy and Sarah Palin:
If appointed, Caroline Kennedy will be one of 100 US Senators. While it's a prestigious position, any mistakes she might make aren't likely to destroy the world as we know it.
If John McCain and Sarah Palin had been elected, Palin would have been a heartbeat away from the Presidency, a job held by a 72 year old man with a history of cancer.
Caroline Kennedy has demonstrated that she is smart, knowledgeable, and is able to learn.
Sarah Palin has demonstrated none of those traits.

Alright. Who do I have to give a blowjob to in order to keep this idiot from getting any more airtime? I mean, seriously - I am tired of hearing her whine. Give her some of Jane's blue cheese to go with it. Bah.
Posted by: Kat at January 8, 2009 3:05 PM
Hell, Kat. I'D make that offer if I thought she would STFU... but I know it's useless.
Posted by: PackyJ at January 8, 2009 3:08 PM
Kat, are you asking for what I think you're asking?
Posted by: politicalpartypooper at January 8, 2009 3:09 PM
That's dedication though, Pack. I'm proud of you.
And it depends, P-cubed. What do you think I'm asking?
Posted by: Kat at January 8, 2009 3:14 PM
I'm thinking your asking for Miss Alaska to require the Heimlich with no one there to give it.
Posted by: politicalpartypooper at January 8, 2009 3:16 PM
Me, Kitty!!!!
I will can claim War Hero Status and get away with it.
Posted by: GItheJOE at January 8, 2009 3:23 PM
'Death by Blue Cheese.' Hmmm...it has a certain ring to it.
The caveat was that you have to be able to shut up Caribou Barbie, Joe. ;)
Posted by: Kat at January 8, 2009 3:25 PM
Ignore me, Joe! I'm at work (such a fuck-off) and didn't read carefully enough. Perhaps the PTSD thing will come in handy....
Posted by: Kat at January 8, 2009 3:27 PM
I guarantee my work with a 12 month 12000 mile warranty that you won't hear a "Maverick" out of her or your money back.
Posted by: GItheJOE at January 8, 2009 3:32 PM
I think it will be miraculous if she ever says a non-doofish thing
The woman has zero self awareness...she has no clue we were not picking on her for sport but because she would more than likely wind up as President - and she was insanely underqualified and the thought of her in the oval office scared the bejesus out of us. This was not about her....it was about our own self preservation.
At first I found Kennedy's you knows slightly distracting HOWEVER...sometimes those crutches are used when people are using their brains to think and formulate a sentence that makes sense, something Sarah has yet to master. And in truth it is better than a polished politician who is lying to our face how they are here for us but either spending our money in fleabag motels with hookers or taking about family values while parading around a mistress. Please Sarah stay in Alaska...your 15 minutes of fame are up. Thank goodness.
Posted by: LK at January 8, 2009 3:33 PM
My viewpoint exactly, LK.
Caroline Kennedy is using "y'know" out of habit, not because she is incapable of saying anything intelligent (or intelligible, for that matter).
I've noticed that even Barack Obama sometimes uses "y'know," along with "uuuhhh.." when he is collecting his thoughts while speaking. Even if you don't like him, it's impossible to dispute his smarts.
Both of those speech habits can be broken with a little effort.
Sarah Palin, on the other hand, sounds exactly like a not-too-bright pageant contestant, who thinks that if she stops talking, the judges will mark her score down.
What she doesn't understand is that WE are the judges, and we ALL wish she WOULD stop talking.
Posted by: PackyJ at January 8, 2009 3:43 PM
She needs to shut up and save all her invaluable stupidity for 2012, and then unleash it on the world yet again as a reminder of why America didn't elect a Republican president this go-round.
Posted by: Kyle W. at January 8, 2009 3:45 PM
Packy, I'm afraid it's time for you to apologize again to all of America on behalf of all Alaskans....
Posted by: ceu at January 8, 2009 3:51 PM
I share all your opinions but, again, I would like to add that in 4 years you will see a very different Palin. She will be polished, prepped, programmed and taught English. There is a frightening number of people out there who thought she a good idea AS IS and agree with her that everyone was way too rough on her.
Take care not to write her off so quickly. You would be underestimating the power of the Republican machine and overestimating the collective intelligence of the American voters.......
Posted by: LameDuckHunting at January 8, 2009 3:55 PM
Lame, you are a fucking genius. I have been thinking the same thing for a long time now and have been able to put it into words. The American Moron Voter(Swing voter/Racist Voter/live in the middle of nowhere Voter) still love this woman. I would say that is 45% of the electorate.

Don't worry, Kyle. The well will never runneth dry.

This is not news since she is unable to not say doofish things. She is apparently not bright enough to fully comprehend reality. Not that anyone really fully comprehends reality, but she is more reality impared than most.
I agree with LDH's observation:
"Maybe we could come to understand you better if you spoke our language."
This is cold, but true, and she is an Alaskan so is used to the cold.
I can't stand her word ejaculation language style position flexible. Her learning to speak the language would be a tremendous improvement.

If Palin comes back in 2012 as a quasi-intellectual, she'll alienate the very base that so enjoys her stupidity.
Posted by: Kyle W. at January 8, 2009 4:20 PM
Ok, Ceu:
To America, and the world at large:
I am sorry. I did not elect her, but somehow, enough stupid and/or ignorant Alaskans voted to put her in the Governor's Mansion (when she's not back in Wasilla collecting per diem).
I'm also sorry McCain picked her as his running mate... believe me, she is an embarrassment to all thinking Alaskans. All of us that fall into that group really, really wish she would just have a big cup of STFU.
Posted by: PackyJ at January 8, 2009 4:24 PM
Oh, Packy, that's not necessary. I'm from Georgia, I think I have way more politicians to apologize for than your state does.
Posted by: Kyle W. at January 8, 2009 4:26 PM
That is making the rash assumption that Palin has the ability, and more importantly, the willingness, to learn.
Trust me. She doesn't.
Palin is more intellectually uncurious than Dubya is, and history has shown that she openly rebels against anyone trying to smarten her up.

>>If Palin comes back in 2012 as a quasi-intellectual, she'll alienate the very base that so enjoys her stupidity.
I agree with that, Kyle. But she won't come back as any form of intellectual. She just won't be such an ignorant, babbling grifter who wanders off message with every statement she makes.
She will potentially become more palatable and, therefore, even more dangerous........
Posted by: LameDuckHunting at January 8, 2009 4:28 PM
Oh, well done, Packy! You've gotten quite good at that. :)
Take note on how it's done, Kyle, as you're from Georgia & no doubt will have to apologize to us for something stupid Saxby Chambliss says or does in the near future.
Posted by: ceu at January 8, 2009 4:33 PM
Packy, certainly you would have the best take on the woman than any of us. But I will not misunderestimate the deviousness of a desperate Republican party.
Never turn your back on a cornered weasel......
Oh, and the whole effin' thing is McCain's fault, really, so as, also..........

Steve Benen had a great post on this topic.
"Now, as far as I can tell, Caroline Kennedy hasn't enjoyed especially good press at all since she announced her desire to serve in the Senate. The New York Times, in particular, published a very unflattering piece; reporters have been openly mocking Kennedy's speaking style ('you know') and questioning her credentials; and the response to her 'candidacy' from the blogs has been widely negative. But that's not the only reason Palin's whining is so odd. Kennedy probably won't receive anywhere near the national media scrutiny Palin received, but that's because Kennedy wants to be one of 100 senators, serving one state, while Palin inexplicably thought she should be one heartbeat from leading the free world. The scrutiny should be different -- candidates for statewide office and national office are playing in different leagues.
For that matter, this notion that Palin was widely ridiculed because of 'class' is crazy. The governor may find it embarrassing, but she's upper-middle-class. Playing the victim, and suggesting the media is picking on her because she isn't wealthy is absurd."
Posted by: CJ at January 8, 2009 4:35 PM
LDH: Point taken. But I think PackyJ is right in assuming that Mrs. Palin is not exactly eager to be corrected... she apparently thinks the impression most people have of her as an idiot is the result of MSM-bias, and not her own idiotic statements. I have a hard time thinking she'll show up in 2012 and somehow be more acceptable to those viewed her candidacy as in insult to their intelligence.
Posted by: Kyle W. at January 8, 2009 4:36 PM
Kyle, that's where the programming comes in. Two years in Rove's Rehab Center for the Criminally Republican will work wonders on that witch.........

>>Take note on how it's done, Kyle, as you're from Georgia & no doubt will have to apologize to us for something stupid Saxby Chambliss says or does in the near future.
...as such, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize in advance for the many various scandals that Chambliss will undoubtedly find himself embroiled in and for the various offensive remarks he will likely make.
Posted by: Kyle W. at January 8, 2009 4:42 PM
Is Chambliss still groping his grandchildren or has he moved on to other people's grandchildren?
Posted by: LameDuckHunting at January 8, 2009 4:44 PM
I am so happy that Sarah Palin LOVES attention so much. She apparently doesn't care what kind of attention. But who cares, she is comedy GOLD.
Posted by: jane at January 8, 2009 4:45 PM
...The Alaska governor said that when she sees some of the coverage of her daughter Bristol especially “the momma grizzly rises up in me.” ...
Not to worry Sarah. As soon as Caroline puts her pregnant, highschool-dropout daughter on a national stage with a baby under one arm and the hockey-playing HS dropout thug of a boyfreind on the other, we'll start making fun of them too.
Just wait Sarah, all normal folks go through the same family issues, right? It'll happen.
Posted by: Alan4s at January 8, 2009 4:59 PM
I'm just glad my blog went from Alaska politics, to being an information source for the whole country while people scrambled to find out just who SayPay was.
Posted by: Alaska (I EAT GRAVEL) at January 8, 2009 5:55 PM
DippityDoo claims it's a class difference in how the media treats her as opposed to Caroline. Okay. Caroline Kennedy has more class in her big toe than that hillbilly clan of wingnuts has in their entire gigantic family tree. And it has nothing to do with "class" as it applies to amounts of money.
Posted by: dontpanic23 at January 8, 2009 6:11 PM
At Huffpo if you say anything eloquent clean and critical of Palin on comments, 8 out of 10 times they won't publish it.
So here may I say eff that word salad bag of graft and gun-loving horse crap from Inbredville, Good America, U.S.A. Pallin' around with meth dealers who's kid u let knock up yer daughter, red meat, no witches, oil, God and dead wolves from aircraft?
Sick o' looking at her vacuous mug...and hearing whatever spurts from it's attached maw.

To be a fly on the cosmic wall when Sarah asked Jesus why he didn't just smite that heathen Katie Couric.
