Stimulus Ceiling Unlimited
Coincidentally, I've been thinking about this exact same thing: Nate Silver deduces that the president-elect is deliberately opening with a lower stimulus number and he intends to allow the overall pricetag to go much, much higher.
Clearly the Republicans are going to gripe about spending (despite massive evidence in favor of spending), so the Republicans will do a whiny pee-pants dance irrespective of the president-elect's base number or the final number. So why not let it go higher? It's a win-win.

Mr. The GI the Joe and I were discussing this last night in the privacy of our silk-strewn boudoir but I'll say it again: I think the President Elect is deliberately downplaying most of his pre-official-presidenting business just in case the GOP has devised some sort of Southern Strategy Ray-Gun that can reverse the course of time prior to 1/20 or transmogrify ordinary black people into Lee Atwater. I think he's playing things preternaturally cool and triangulatory until his hand comes off the Lincoln Bible and he donkeypunches John Roberts in his Federalist Sac.
At least I hope to holy hell that's what's going on here.

Anyway, Yes. I do believe that Obama will do the minimal amount of change to keep this country out of the DITCH(depression) or ROUGH PATCH(recession). But in his second term he will be taking away all the white peoples guns, putting us in camps, cloning Malcolm X, build a giant black dick statue to replace the Washington Monument, and Universal Healthcare.

If Obama wants his stimulator package to pass, maybe he should include some fleshlights for the "mavericks" in the two parties? Get Congress stimulated, and no one can stop us!
