First. I am first. I love being the first. To be first is something special. When you are first to post a comment on the PTT your whole world is better. Did I mention that I am first?

Some food for thought:
CIA resignations?
Meet the Press spreading bullshit
McCain is slamming Obama
Osama is having a recruiting issue
John Boehner needs not to be reelected in Ohio
The GOP is a new religion
I finally figures out WTF a SlapChop is
It is fucking snowing again in PA

i am convinced terrorists are republican! they are not happy unless hate has saturated every cell of their body and if problems don't exist they make up some to keep the ball rolling...
Posted by: gypsysoul at January 25, 2009 7:34 PM
I hate the hate that the GOP haters spread.
Posted by: GItheScholar at January 25, 2009 7:39 PM
yep joe. i think their hate comes in a tub at walmart and of course bootleg. can't beat that homemade hate!
Posted by: gypsysoul at January 25, 2009 7:41 PM
Or maybe Walmart is selling hate flavored as cheese puffs.
Posted by: GItheScholar at January 25, 2009 7:47 PM
Okay, I'll admit it, I had one of those slap-chop things through Pampered Chef(like Tupperware, except for cooking gadgets). What they don't show or tell you is that you WILL bruise your hand severely trying to use that fucking thing. Better just to get one of those damn chopper electric things or hire someone to do it for you.

Hey Gyps, How are...ahem, cough, cough... things going?? Do I need to send you a gift certificate to A Woman's Touch (a wonderful local toy store for grown-ups)??
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 7:55 PM
The Republicans will shift completely into obstructionist mode this week, then when they are steamrolled and trampled as the stimulus package passes they'll start to squeal about how Obama was lying when he said "no more politics as usual."
This is just their usual game. The exception this time is, hopefully, there will be no Clintonian Triangulation Bullshit.
Also, before mid-season, I think we're going to lose the Galactica...
Posted by: Nanotyrannus at January 25, 2009 7:55 PM
Did I mention that I fucking hate winter?? I also fucking hate Wisconsin? And that our electric & gas bill is $176 for a 2 bedroom apt. Where I keep the thermostat at 66 degrees????
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 7:58 PM
Did I mention how amazing Theo is?? When I was 17, my major concern was where my next zit was going to pop up. If Theo is just a one person sample of our future, I feel so much better about that future.
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 8:01 PM
Nano, thank you for your analysis. That makes a lot of sense. I really hope President Obama still kills them with kindness. He is some much smarter than those idiots and should be able to paint them into a corner or stupidity and hatred.
Minx, my gas bill was $256 last month and I now have four puppies, two dogs and two chinchillas pasted to my body. I have my heat on 60F with one electric heated pointed directly at my nutsack. My electric bill was only $50 so I will make the trade to giving my money to the electric company instead the of the evil oil company. Plus I bought some of that plastic wrap and taped it to all my windows. Duct taped all my upstairs heat vents and put three blankets on my bed.
Posted by: GItheScholar at January 25, 2009 8:10 PM
Minx, Theo is way above her peers. I go to college with 18-22 year olds and she is much smarter than those idiots.
Posted by: GItheScholar at January 25, 2009 8:12 PM
Ceu - OK, regarding that Slap-Chop commercial: I lost it when he said,"You're gonna love my nuts!" AND very cool toss over the shoulder sans looking with the other thingy into the sink.
Posted by: Broadway Carl at January 25, 2009 8:16 PM
Will someone please explain to me what Clintonian Triangulation is?? Please, Nano??
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 8:16 PM
Seriously, Carl. How many people get to say that on national TV with a straight face?? It's priceless.
Posted by: ceu at January 25, 2009 8:24 PM
I'm with you, GI. I hope he reaches out to them. My hope is that they are marginalized by the successes of Obama's administration. They'll still cry and moan about how communist/islamofascist/socialist/scientologist the new economic agenda is, but if it succeeds, their rhetoric will shift into falsely crediting George W Bush with any improvement of the economy.
Posted by: Nanotyrannus at January 25, 2009 8:25 PM
...their rhetoric will shift into falsely crediting George W Bush with any improvement of the economy.
Exactly. It'll be "Well, yeah Obama was in charge when the economy recovered, but if it weren't for Bush bailing out the banks... blah blah blah vomit blah blah!"

Minx - Clinton Triangulation
Posted by: Broadway Carl at January 25, 2009 8:32 PM
>>but if it succeeds, their rhetoric will shift into falsely crediting George W Bush with any improvement of the economy
you are so right Nano, then the nationalizing the banks will be w's grand idea, and they were for it from the start
Posted by: veralynn at January 25, 2009 8:32 PM
Clinton triangulation means making weenie policy and decisions based on what pollsters tell you what people in the middle want. It means selling your soul and whatever scruples and beliefs you might have once had. Bill Clinton was a master of this. Most Democrats do this which is why they lack the balls to tell the Republicans to pound salt and let us give the little guy a bigger piece of the pie (mmmm, pie!) and health care, and debt relief and free weight watchers.
Posted by: emsique at January 25, 2009 8:37 PM
@Minx-
It's what President Clinton was known for. He'd try to out-Republican the Republicans and embrace policies that leaned more conservative as a way of trying to get Republicans on board with his agenda.
It didn't stop Republicans from wasting millions of dollars and time in endless investigations, culminating in his near-removal from office.
The strategy was self-serving and disastrous. It was almost as if he just wanted to put something in the win column and if that meant abandoning Democratic principles and policies, then so be it.
Posted by: Nanotyrannus at January 25, 2009 8:37 PM
Hey, Minx! Since you are from Wisconsin, do you sound like Margie in Fargo? I always get a little excited when I hear Midwest women talk.
Posted by: emsique at January 25, 2009 8:40 PM
What does everyone think about the possibility of Booosh Jr., Cheney & Rove being tried(hopefully convicted)for war crimes? Why in the hell is torture being used to get information when it doesn't work(to say the least)???
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 8:41 PM
Continuing the thought - That's why you sometimes hear people say Clinton was the best Republican president of the last 30 years.
Posted by: Broadway Carl at January 25, 2009 8:42 PM
Hey Emsique-- The Amazing Marge Gunderson was from North Dakota, da Wisconsin accent is quite different, her voice is much flatter than mine. If you really want to know, my loving spouse says that I have a wonderful voice for phone sex-- low & breathy.
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 8:47 PM
@veralynn--
Oh they are not happy with W about that. Back at the end of December, the party was talking about accusing congressional Republicans and Ex-(never really was)President Bush of embracing "socialism" over the $700 billion bailout.
Of course, some of them are not bright enough to realize that the banks were not socialized. The government has no financial stake, no say in how the money is used and is not even keeping track of who got what. That's hardly socializing the banks. It's really just robbing the treasury.
Posted by: Nanotyrannus at January 25, 2009 8:47 PM
You would have to commit a war crime first before you can be tried.
How do know that torture does not work for gathering information. If it does not work then why has it been done to people for thousands of years?
I don't mean to be a pain but, please support the arguments.
Posted by: naynay at January 25, 2009 8:49 PM
To be fair, depending on the time of year, I can also be rather nasal...

Good point naynay.
Now please support the assertion that it works because it's been done for thousands of years.
I don't mean to be a pain but, please support the arguments.

>>You would have to commit a war crime first before you can be tried
If waterboarding is not a crime, then we owe some big time apologies for the Japanese guys we hanged after WWII for waterboarding Americans.
Posted by: ceu at January 25, 2009 8:57 PM
@naynay-- I will refer you to Matthew Alexander who personally did 300 prisoner interviews & supervised 1,000 more in our current military situation. He says that he received far more reliable information through creating rapport than through torture. Think about it-- if someone is being tortured, they will say ANYTHING to get it to stop. They will say what they think you want to hear.
Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 8:57 PM
naynay - You can't be serious. Every intelligence expert we have says that torture does not work because the person being tortured will tell you anything you want to hear just to get you to stop.
Torture is a war crime. Read the Geneva Conventions, read about World War II Japanese soldiers that were convicted of war crimeds for using waterboarding techniques, and then get back to us.

SillyGit "Conservative's Uncomfortableness Meter"™ is running at a steady 3.
Analysis:
The static level is at 3 caused by the conservative pee-dance about HR 1 (Economic Stimuli) on the Sunday morning political circuses. John McCain and his merry band of contrarians have rediscovered fiscal conservatism now that a democrat occupies the White House. McCain and company are very concerned about the size of Obama and the Democrats' package (it is now apparently larger than Rush, Bill, and Sean's Egos combined). They are also having fits over a Congressional Budget Office Report which supposedly states that the effects of HR 1 won't be felt until 2011. The problem is that this CBO Report is a figment of the neocon imagination. No such report exists. Since conservatives don't check facts, the nonexistant report increases their discomfort anyway.
Trends:
The uncomfortableness (new word) is expected to remain steady for the time being. Barring unforeseen events such as the Obama DOJ deciding to enforce laws broken by the previous administration, there is little to increase the current discomfort. While all of the shouting over HR 1 and package sizes is ongoing, there is no reason to expect a decrease either.
Posted by: SillyGit at January 25, 2009 9:03 PM
Although I am glad Obama is president, he is still a Christian politician who will probably let the torturers and their stinky fish head leaders slide since that would be the politically expedient thing to do.
Posted by: emsique at January 25, 2009 9:05 PM
OMFG do NOT turn on Fox News...they've officially gone fucking crazy. For real this time. Hannity and Limbaugh are together. I'd rather stick needles in my eyes and eat lint than ever watch that channel again.
I agree with Jon Stewart. Everybody thought Colmes served no purpose on Hannity's show, but he was clearly the sandbag holding the crazy hot air balloon down.

Silly Git, I Lurve You and your Meter of Uncomfortableness. BTW, how high can it go & what happens when it gets there?

Why watch Fox News? Why not get a ground glass enema instead? My ex in laws always had that shit on full blast at their house with fucking Bose speakers. Reminded me of good Germans listening to Der Fuhrer on ze radio.

PTTers,
naynay is Lib4ever/PayYourWay/I-LUV-GOP-WANG or whatever cute screen name they can come up with. Please ignore and it will go away.
Another reason why waterboarding/electric shock and other painful things are fucking war crimes is that it puts our soldiers in even more risk of getting tortured. We are better than this bullshit.

Well, Ems, From the article that Nano cited(Thank You for that!!), even if the Obama Administration doesn't move forward on the prosecution, other countries may. So! Some members of the Booosh Administration may curtail International travel...

Posted by: Teh Minx at January 25, 2009 9:20 PM
TY Minx, here you go -
Description of the SillyGit "Conservative's Uncomfortableness Meter"™:
The meter measures the inverse of the comfort level of conservatives. The Uncomfortableness scale of the meter is a 0 to 10 logarithmic scale with 10 being the highest level of conservative uncomfortableness that does not result in the death of the conservatives being measured. (The meter actually measures to 11.) Since conservative uncomfortableness is a somewhat chaotic process, the meter uses an analog movement as a mechanical low-pass filter. The meter is currently configured to measure the uncomfortableness of conservatives in the United States only.
The meter is intended to be used to show when Democrats and the President are doing the right things since doing the right things will increase the uncomfortableness of conservatives.

A few towns in VT have arrest warrants for Bush & Cheney if they show up there...Brattleboro is one.
Posted by: ceu at January 25, 2009 9:27 PM
Nay nay, here are some other things people have been doing for thousands of years:
Treating women like subhumans.
Slavery
Child abuse
Spreading venereal disease
Wars of aggression
Drinking bad water
Murder
Cannibalism
Ethnic cleansing
Fecal fetishim
Fratricide
Matricide
And Torture
There are lots more examples of bad human behavior, but these just came off the top of my head. Using the excuse that people have done something for thousands of years to justify something just because it gives you some kind of perverse satisfaction is kind of sick.
Posted by: emsique at January 25, 2009 9:33 PM
Wow!! Really, Ceu?? Brattleboro Vt has warrants out for Booosh (Thanks, Emsique!) et al?? Can they really be arrested? What about the Secret Service?

The European opinion of the BushCo Enhanced Interrogation Techniques™ aka Torture.
Based on my reading of UK and DE (Germany not Delaware) News Websites, the Europeans are not only not amused about the torture, they are mad as hornets. Many of the EU nations translate articles to UK (OED) English (It is the official EU business language), but not all provide translations of their articles that are most critical of U.S. policies. Nevertheless, it is almost certain that if Rumsfeld, Bush, and/or Cheney set foot in an EU nation, they will be arrested and transported to the Hague to face a war crimes court.
Since I expect that Cheney has retired to an undisclosed, secure mineshaft in Wyoming, this will not be a problem for him.
Additionally the UN appears to be contemplating taking action and having them arrested where ever they may be. I am sure they will wait to see if Obama's DOJ does something. I don't expect them to wait more than 6 months to a year.
Posted by: SillyGit at January 25, 2009 9:41 PM
I don't think they want to arrest the secret service agents...
it's non-binding, but true nonetheless
Posted by: ceu at January 25, 2009 9:41 PM

What the fuck is the obsession with torture and the GOP? I mean seriously where the fuck is jane with some bondage pictures when we need her. I am not a doctor but if you are obsessed with hurting people but not doing it yourself you are no different than someone who watches child porn. Can we stop treating the GOP as a political party and like the Hate Group/Sex Offenders they really are?

It's the best Brewpub (as in best fucking beer) in the entire lower 48 (This is a consensus opinion of American Homebrewer Association Certified beer judges, of which I am one. So this it not just my opinion.)
McNeil is one of the few brewers I've met who is actually more anal retentive than I am. That's saying something. I'd kill for a Duck's Breath Pale Ale right now.

Ady or Leigh
I think the GOP is becoming more like the Church of Scientology, much more so than like the RCC.
If you have ever battled with scienos online, you would notice that the Reich Wing Trolls behave *exactly* like scieno online operatives do.
They state conclusions with no supporting evidence.
They won't go away.
If they have targeted you personally, they will follow you from one online forum to another attempting to make your life miserable.
If they have targeted a 'hate' site, they will bombard that sites comments with as many posts as possible and generally try to disrupt any ongoing discussions.
The whole 'hate' notion is what caused me to notice it. If you criticize COS policies or beliefs, you are accused of Religion Hate Crimes. Help, Help, they are repressing my Religion.
Scientology does not allow any criticism. At all.
Anyone that criticizes becomes 'Fair Game'.
So now we accused of being 'haters' for criticizing Bush and his band of criminals aka The GOP.
I think scienos are behind the GOP online troll tactics.
It's very dangerous to say things like L. Ron Hubbard was a big fat fraud online. Even when you provide evidence that supports the statement.
Posted by: SillyGit at January 25, 2009 10:15 PM

Hey, guys, I'm late to the thread, sorry (I was having dinner with my dad). Before delving into the orgiastic troll-beating/politicking of the night, I wanted to say thanks to Minx and GI - your words are tremendously appreciated, and I think y'all are swell.
Posted by: theo at January 25, 2009 10:53 PM
Minx -
The meter goes to 11, but conservatives die at a sustained level of 10.
11 is to catch short transients (think short stabbing pain).
10 is the head asplode level, but it takes over a day at 10 for the explosion.
Technically 10 is the calibration point. 10 is the value of uncomfortableness at which half the conservatives being measured have head explosions after 24 hours exposure to that level. So you really have to go a bit higher to get the other half. (The other reason the meter goes to 11)
I used to use the vein in Rushes forehead as the meter but you can't see that on the radio.
I'll have to think about a description for each integer level from 0 to 10. This might take a few days of thought.

If anyone is interested in Scientology, the web sites that I would recommend for research are:
www.xenu.org - Operation Clambake - Documents the excesses and the crimes of the Cult of Scientology
www.freezone.org - Scientologists that have broken from the COS for valid reasons of faith. These are true believers that have the same criticisms of the COS as do I. If you want to learn about the belief system, this is where to start.
I criticize L. Ron Hubbard and the COS, not scientologists. I have no problem with people practicing whatever belief system floats their boat. The COS is guilty of major crimes, and so I have criticisms.
BTW - You won't learn anything about Scientology and its belief systems at their official web site. You only get to learn the religion a piece at a time and you have to pay for each piece. Their web site is marketing propaganda. The FreeZone site will tell you about scientology without having to pay for it.

One of the anonymous-morons-about-whom-I-care-nothing (Tom or Dan or Bob in Iowa or Idaho or whatever) from his Panel o' Morons said something about which I actually agree: "I haven't said 'president' in a long time."

My presences allow scares off the trolls. The troll only had the thatchers to show up once and kindly left. The whole PTT family did get their shots in though and I am so proud.

Not sure, QT. Ceu clued me in on the VT orders, they are symbolic, but I love the thought behind them. It's as though these folks are saying (Thanks to the film "Network"): "We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore!"

since turning votable age i have only had bush, so me saying president is like saying douchebag-asswipe. i also feel obama is one of us, he's my obama! president is too formal for us! hehe... how can i get over this?

I remember hearing that a G8 (might've been EU) meeting was relocated because Rumsfeld refused to go to that country, because there was a warrant for his arrest. I also know Henry Kissinger refuses to leave the US because he'll get arrested.

president is too formal for us!
Posted by: gypsysoul at January 25, 2009 11:33 PM
Yes, I also try to refrain from saying "President ______" because, in my opinion, "President" is similar to "His Majesty" or "King ______" or "Lord _______." The founders rebelled against titles and tried to establish a sort of meritocracy-- or at least a system that somewhat resembled a meritocracy.
....and don't get me started on the people who say, "respect the office!" or "you must respect him anyway." When the people booed the chimp at Obama's inauguration it was a triumph.
Media correspondents' reaction to the booing: "OOOHHHH! THIS IS HORRIBLE! OOOHHHH MY GOD! POOR TASTE." Maddow: "I didn't expect this." Whatever.

i agree mg!
i don't subscribe to the "you have to earn respect to get respect" i show respect until respect is lost then my mouth becomes of pool of nastiness that makes me way too happy! hehe...

I'm with you both. There was a story I read once, the heroine wanted to follow "The Ten Commandments", but had a mother who was a terrible person. She asked her teacher about this dilemma and her teacher said, "Honor your parents, but only if they are honorable."
G'Night All, Sleep well & dream of enjoying your favorite pie...

i thought minxy was talking about matt! haha...the word honorable is the polar opposite of what i would do to that boy!
