The Bush Response to 9/11

Despite what Halperin says, President Bush didn't do anything on and after 9/11 that any other human being would have done as president. In other words, there was absolutely nothing special or extraordinary about the way President Bush responded to the attacks -- other than to sit there in stunned silence for nine minutes. Beyond that, he was nothing more than average.

Tell me, Mr. Halperin, name one thing he did that was so awesome?

I've never understood this "Bush was a hero on 9/11" myth. More BBQ bullshit--if anything, the greatness came from the American people and the rest of the world who rallied around the president and our country--a sentiment he quickly squandered by using the tragedy (that occurred on his watch) to divide our country and breed hatred towards us.

Halperin is a class A tool. The only awesome thing that Bush will ever do is to leave Washington DC on January 20th. Don't let the door hit you in the ass too hard.

I don't know...I think his flitting from bunker to bunker looking for one that was far away from any command/control position was pretty awesome. His restraint in not addressing the country until late that evening, after his own safety was ensured, showed real leadership....not

It's a case of the Emperor's Retirement Clothes, and apparently some are convinced they look really smart.

Shortly after 9/11, I began wondering who spoke to the presidential mind, what they were saying, and whether he was intelligent enough to understand it.

Then I wrote this short story.

This "9/11 Hero" is the same myth of which Giuliani was the lucky recipient. I watched those towers fall as we were all trying to evacuate lower Manhattan. And believe me, had "America's Mayor" had not been stupid enough to place the Emergency Control Center in the same location that was bombed in 1993, he would have been nowhere near the site.

It seems that hero status is automatically assigned to leaders in charge in situations like this when it is those same leaders' negligence or indifference that helped to create the disasterous situation in the first place.I've been saying the same thing for years. George W. Bush and Rudy Giuliani did absolutely nothing differently than what any other elected official would have done faced with the same scenario. Except maybe start an illegal war.

And the amazing thing is that nine months into his presidency, Bush mistakenly thought that a photo-op was the way to show his leadership and continued that method for the rest of his time as "leader" of the free world.

Had it occurred to anyone that the main reason for locating the Emergency Control Center in WTC nr. 7, could have been to use it as a control center for the controlled demolition of the Twin Towers, as was probably the case on 9/11? Anyone who has studied the history of this Emergency Control Center and its use on 9/11 will inevitably become suspicious about the choice of this location and the destruction of this building. I do not make here any definite claims but merely suggest a particular avenue of inquiry to readers with an open mind.
