I hope Louisiana's own Slumdog Exorcist is speaking on the TEE VEE again tonight. I had a rough day and could use another good laugh..........

So, apparently Rush thinks Jindal's the "real deal," and doesn't want to hear from anyone on their side "ever again" if they criticize him (Jindal.) Love it. Just keep paring 'em off, Rush-bo.

I want a button, Bob. Can we get a "Bob Groupie" button?

i just watched the video introducing what twitter is. (i have to say...i feel a little dumber for it) is it worth joining?

So, after hearing/reading every neo-con talk about the 9,000 earmarks in this I decided to do a google search to see what I could find.

http://docs.house.gov/rules/omni/jes/divbjes_111_hromni2009_jes.pdf

I'm only guessing, but I think they are calling every spending line item an "earmark." The Tila Tequila of neo-cons (Michelle Malkin) made mention of tattoo removal. There is a line item in there for $200,000 for gang tattoo removal. Also in there are items going crime prevention, rape prevention, money for universities, studies, etc.

Anyone know what distinguishes an earmark for a spending line-item? I don't read a lot of congressional bills, so I seriously don't know.

Jindal/Limbaugh 2012! What a douchebag.

But of course, they're going to try and defend this guy. It shows the lockstep mentality that they try to project on liberals. I was actually shocked that he did so poorly last night after watching him in previous interviews.

So the moral? In the course of a week or so, you can compare the President to a chimpanzee in a racist editorial cartoon, you can call him a communist and a socialist for the his efforts on trying to stem the tide of a deep, deep recession, as a member of the military you can question his citizenship to rabble rouse and call him an impostor, you can even send an e-mail depicting a watermelon patch on the White House lawn if you're an elected official, but don't you dare call out an Indian-American southern governor who gave one of the worst performances of speechmaking I've ever seen.

Gyps - I joined Twitter only a few days ago to experiment with it. Mostly I did it to add short one liners to my blog that don't always merit a longer post. It takes some getting used to, but I think it's a good networking tool. Anyone else here have more experience with Twitter and its pros and cons?

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 6:49 PM

I'm scared of Twitter. It seems like the perfect segue to the hive-mind future of science fiction...

OOOH! OOOH! OOOOOOOH!!! Light bulb!

Let's start a hoax internet RUMOR and see if we can fool Michelle Bachmann into repeating it on TV!!!

Posted by: Matt Osborne at February 25, 2009 6:53 PM

Wow. Tom Delay is still a total asshole. Why isn't he in jail??

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 6:55 PM

I just started using Twitter. I don't understand what the big deal is. It's fun, I guess, but not the greatest invention ever like some make it out to be.

Why does Matthews have this guy on? Shouldn't he be in jail?

Posted by: idreamofskiba at February 25, 2009 6:57 PM

haha...that's funny matt!

carl, thank you papi. (said in my awesome faux puerto rican accent) ;) and your post about what can be done to our president vs whatever crazy mess they have currently done was perfect!

Posted by: gypsy at February 25, 2009 6:59 PM

HA! Delay is talking up Jindal's credentials, etc. and called him "Governor David Jindal".

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 7:02 PM

chris, i watched hardball earlier and delay made me lose it! has he smuggly yelled he promises obama won't get elected again?! anyone seen "nothing but trouble" with dan akroyd as the judge? google it! it is tom delay in a couple years.

Posted by: gypsy at February 25, 2009 7:07 PM

On a Doocy-related note, I found this entertaining.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 7:15 PM

Sierra: an earmark is a federal spending item that is worked into a bill by one or another legislator for their own districts. Often the only way local projects can get funded, they are nevertheless loathed because they are frequently tacked on to items that they have nothing to do with. So - want increased spending for public schools? Sure! Have that along with $25K for the Podunk IA Museum.

There are no earmarks in this bill. Every local project will have to compete nationally for funding out of the pools of money set aside for spending in a variety of projects. For instance, Nancy's Marsh Mouse will have to compete against any number of other marshland projects. I'm sure Nancy has high hopes for her mouse, but she didn't earmark any money for the critter.

I'm with you ceu! I watched Tom DeLay on "Hardball" @5pm and while he really revolted me, I was even more disgusted with Chris Matthews cow-towing to him like he was a Grand PooBah or something!

Matthews also let DeLay slide through his idiotic statements about President Obama without even once questioning him. DeLay was obnoxious with
his snarky laughing-out-loud whenever Harold Ford said something to defend the President. He even said Obama WON'T get re-elected; must be great having a crystal ball!

Posted by: bibimimi at February 25, 2009 7:39 PM

Our own Cminri dragged me onto Twitter (kicking and screaming) a few months back. It has its fun and informational points (in tiny bursts) but I think I have enjoyed some of the off-the-wall remarks made by our own Axl more than any of the celeb tweets.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 7:43 PM

The Bobby & the Sheriff Katrina-Bureaucratic red tape story? Olbermann says it appears he made it up.
I WIN!!
What's my prize???

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 7:51 PM

Who called bullshit on the boat story? Good job.

Posted by: idreamofskiba at February 25, 2009 7:53 PM

Twitter is fun.. and it is a quick way to get in touch with people.. pass quick info back and forth..
Reading some of the tweets from others is really funny...you do have to remember that unless you send a direct message everyone sees what you send

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 7:54 PM

Mrspeel, he's always so obnoxious...I can't bear him at all.
What I don't get is how come so many GOPers who have been indicted or convicted still get asked to give opinions on the teevee machine & the networks think we should take them seriously.

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 7:54 PM

GI - did you see this?

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 8:03 PM

@ Carl... did you get my message earlier???

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 8:10 PM

Hey, guys!
Did everyone see this? Carl, in particular, I think this is up your alley.

Posted by: fe at February 25, 2009 8:11 PM

oops on the 2x post.

Anyway, let's face it. Jindal may be the Goopers idea of perfect, but he ain't got game. That was the worst speech I've seen in a long time. "Flinchingly bad."

Posted by: trustno1 at February 25, 2009 8:11 PM

Has anyone played Obama's speech backward yet to check for hidden messages? How about a body language expert? I thought Obama's body language clearly screamed, "I'm really a socialist terrorist!"

Posted by: AdyLeigh at February 25, 2009 8:11 PM

Perfectly hilarious....

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 8:11 PM

Carl--have you heard from joe yet?

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:13 PM

oh Ady...you are too funny
but wait, they will have that study done by this time next week. just in time for the radio show that scarborough wont come on

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:15 PM

Matthews has really weird taste in man crushes. I think Obama was the healthiest man crush he ever had, though. Too bad Matthews broke it off when he fell in love with McCain.

Posted by: AdyLeigh at February 25, 2009 8:15 PM

btw chris....i dont have anything to give you but a pat on the back and a great call

you did call it as soon as jindal said it

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:16 PM

@ Annette - what message would you be refering to?

@ fe - Very funny article!

@ veralynn - I watched it twice too, it was soooo delicious!

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:17 PM

VeraLynn, ummm...what happens to you know what over there since I got kicked out and can't get back in? Does it disappear?

Posted by: AdyLeigh at February 25, 2009 8:17 PM

when you open it again you can clear it, but it will be there the next time you open it up

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:20 PM

did you guys see that fish?

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:21 PM

Keith: Remember, you can't spell twitter without t-w-i-t.

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 8:21 PM

fe that was great article. makes me want to go to alaska and see that one that has been erupting for how long now? where are the guys from alaska when you need them?

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:22 PM

@ veralynn - The only response I got from Joe (if you're referring to the Easterling email) was that he'd have to do more research on it to make sure it was real before flipping out about it. But I haven't check my email or FB today.

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:25 PM

...or are you referring to the Joe Scarborough twitter?

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:26 PM

No response from @JoeNBC. Why is that his Twitter name? Why isn't it "MorningJoe" or "Joe Scar" or "MikasMonkey"?

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:29 PM

ty dp, i knew packy was in ireland....i feel better now that i have my memory back

random thought: craig crawford's laugh annoys me, but his hair is better than fineman's

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:31 PM

I have a hard time listening to Craig Crawford. He's a very loud inhaler.

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:32 PM

Craig is like Tweety.. sometimes he is a little wishy washy...lol

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 8:34 PM

Who was it that pegged his voice as "adenoidal"? (Might have been on here or my daughter--brain is mush and my worlds are melting).

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 8:36 PM

Do who did mutter "oh, god" before Jindal? (Son talked at crucial moment in KO)

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 8:39 PM

i didnt hear it dp

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:40 PM

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 8:40 PM

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 8:42 PM

Yes.. he talked about it right at the beginning of his show.. I thought it was KO too... until tweety copped to it...lol

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 8:43 PM

And that's why I don't have a DVR. ;)

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 8:43 PM

Speaking of Tweety, did ha say anything on his show today about his "Oh God" reaction last nite?

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:44 PM

Someone here who has been twittering for a while should send me a message so I can steal the good liberal folks to follow. @ytknows

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 8:45 PM

Did *he* say anything...

Where's Jane tonight?

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:46 PM

Yes, Carl, he basically said he was reacting to the set that Jindal was walking into, not to Jindal himself. Felt like a bad imitation of a presidential entry.

Heh heh. Presidential entry.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 8:47 PM

Jane is MIA so far. Where's Elvis?

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 8:48 PM

and GI? who is calling in tonight? do we have a group question?

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 8:49 PM

Kyle, just sent you a direct message. Let me know if it went through.

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 8:49 PM

Carl, doesn't look like it has come through.

In other news, Rachel's looking dapper in pinstripes.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 8:51 PM

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 8:55 PM

GI - I posted a link upthread @ 8:03 that you'll be interested in, although it will piss you off.

Posted by: ceu at February 25, 2009 8:58 PM

Thanks Annette.

Twitter is good for one thing, easy communication with people who share at least some of my worldview. I live in a small town in Georgia, and am a little too far left for a lot of the people in this town.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 9:02 PM

you near atlanta kyle? i used to live in fayetteville

you dont have to answer if you want to be incognito

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 9:05 PM

Oh, no worries about being incognito. I'm about two hours east of Atlanta, on the border with South Carolina (just to give you an idea of how bad it is).

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 9:06 PM

kyle lol i live on the northern side of that border in NC so i know of what you speak.

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 9:10 PM

ceu, got it. I hate all MPs/Cage Kickers so it wasn't shocking to read that. They got hard ons by putting peanut butter on the genitals of Iraqis and letting the dogs eat the peanut butter.

Yes, I have Jane. She is fine and I will be posting a video of her telling the world she is fine and loves her new home while blinking a morris code message of, "THIS GUY IS NUTS!"

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 25, 2009 9:13 PM

So I banged out a draft email to start the "Convince Michelle Bachmann that Twitter is an evil plot" campaign, but Bob's comment moderator ate it. I know, I know... oldest story in the book: the dog ate my homework.

Posted by: Matt Osborne at February 25, 2009 9:14 PM

Carlos, *someone* has been quietly following you for several days.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 9:14 PM

Poor Jane. She never learned to do that in blink form.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 9:16 PM

I noticed, DP. Thanks.

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 25, 2009 9:18 PM

veralynn, living next door to SC does have its perks -- we can always point and say, "at least we're not that bad."

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 9:20 PM

It's my long snout, eh?

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 25, 2009 9:21 PM

@GI.. check out the front page of military.com .. ok???

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 9:23 PM

annette-thanks for the link. i cannot believe this may be real

i cannot believe no one in the miltary was disgusted by the idiot before, but they are questioning Obama's citizenship...fucking outrageous

and GI? thanks again for who you are and what you do for us, all of us...(right wing nutjobs too)

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 9:30 PM

lol kyle, there are some bright spots in SC...our ady and gypsy

Posted by: veralynn at February 25, 2009 9:31 PM

I've got even closer ties than that: my grandmother has lived there her entire life.

But she's the one who taught me to mock South Cackalackey.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 9:34 PM

You are welcome.. I had to go to VA today with my uncle..and I talked to one of the DAV reps.. he suggested going to that site and using the Buddy finder to see if I could find any info on this guy.. That's what hit me in the face when I pulled it up...lol

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 9:37 PM

Did anyone else just see that Kenneth the Page/Bobby Jindal thing that Rachel just did? Because that...was a little slice of awesome.

Posted by: ElMystico at February 25, 2009 9:37 PM

What'd I miss?

Goddamn Joe. He learned a few things in Iraq. But I know a few things too, so I am safe now.

Posted by: jane at February 25, 2009 9:38 PM

Annette, I have been waiting for an official response to this and Military.com is pretty official. This asshole is done. He is fucked in every way.

If they can make a two star general retire they will make a 1LT get the fuck out without entitlement to VA benefits. It is called a DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE and he will not be working for KBR. I hope he doesn't get hurt in Iraq and they speed him to the US for his court martial.

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 25, 2009 9:39 PM

Did you hear her say that they had thousands of fans on the web page already today...lol

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 9:40 PM

I know GI.. and according to the other site.. there are at least 2 others who have signed on too. They were inspired by him.

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 9:42 PM

Damnit Jane, you get out of the "hole" when I start typing for two minutes. I don't remember installing intertube service in the "hole" but I had some dorky guy named bob in there for a week and this is what you get.

Also, 1LT Easterling is going to get Doucyed by the military.

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 25, 2009 9:43 PM

I personally refuse to recognize his authority until a videotape of both conception and birth are produced and aired on the major networks during prime time.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 9:43 PM

DP... I just sent a request.. please approve me... pretty please...lol

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 9:45 PM

I can't wait to get back to the Army and shit on everyone's parade that is hating President Obama. I had to put up with a retarded rich kid with daddy issues so they will have to suffer through with an intelligent poor kid with daddy issues for at least four years.

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 25, 2009 9:47 PM

Joe, Bob was no help, at least not in time. I twittered my way out.

Posted by: jane at February 25, 2009 9:48 PM

Posted by: jane at February 25, 2009 9:49 PM

you stole my thought, jane.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD.

Posted by: Kyle W. at February 25, 2009 9:55 PM

Posted by: jane at February 25, 2009 9:57 PM

Posted by: jane at February 25, 2009 9:58 PM

That would work..lmao

Posted by: Annette at February 25, 2009 9:58 PM

Naw, I'm from Georgia. I was in NOLA for a trade show a few weeks back.

A lovely city, though. I'd like to visit again, but I'm not too sure if I will.

EIGHT YEARS OF GORE!BLOOD GUTS AND GORE!!!

Posted by: jane at February 25, 2009 10:07 PM

I love NOLA. Had a nice vacation there last summer. Wonderful food, music, and atmosphere. But you do need to stay to known areas - there are parts of town it's not wise to visit if you don't know what you're doing. Much safer to just get plastered on Bourbon street - someone will pick you up and cart you back to your hotel.

Posted by: Alan4s at February 25, 2009 10:12 PM

Prediction:

Just from what I'm hearing about the comparison, I'll bet Kenneth the Page makes an appearance on Saturday Night Live this week as Bobby Jindal. Bonus Prediction: with Tina Fey as Sarah Palin giving him "pointers" on dealing with the media filter.

I'm sure I'm not the first to make this prediction, making me not omniscient, but collectively minded omniscient.
