Hi guys! Just dropping in to acknowledge the passing of the recovery package, and to wish good management in the weeks, months ahead!

Posted by: viccan at February 14, 2009 6:25 PM

Can we get a troll in here to start things up?

Posted by: Packy at February 14, 2009 7:02 PM

Nano hates his job because the customers are killing his soul with their neediness and lack of aptitude but feels like he shouldn't complain because it's better than no job at all.

Posted by: Nanotyrnns at February 14, 2009 7:10 PM

more importantly, how do I get Ann Coulter off my computer screen?

Posted by: fe at February 14, 2009 7:10 PM

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 7:11 PM

Nano--feeling your pain
that is my mantra every day, then I cry when I see my paycheck

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 7:14 PM

You miss the 80's veralynn? After seeing that video from the 80's on seduction at salon.com today, I'm recommending damnatio memoriae for the 80's.

Posted by: Nanotyrnns at February 14, 2009 7:14 PM

I think you need Clorox, fe.

Posted by: Packy at February 14, 2009 7:15 PM

I crapped my pants when I saw my check the other day. Where's that effing tax cut that old codger McCain promised me? That asshole knows how to win wars and stuff but can't cut my taxes? I'm soooo glad I didn't vote for him...

Posted by: Nanotyrnns at February 14, 2009 7:16 PM

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 7:24 PM

Ann Coulter is a faux merkin.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 14, 2009 7:26 PM

What video?

Posted by: Packy at February 14, 2009 7:34 PM

an 80's seduction video @ salon.com
http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/2009/02/13/successful_seduction/index.html

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 7:35 PM

not recommended though Packy

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 7:37 PM

That video started my day. Yikes. I became so disoriented I forgot to dig up the latest ep of Battlestar Galactica.

Posted by: Nanotyrnns at February 14, 2009 7:43 PM

I wonder how many people will find the GDAB by searching for the word 'merkin'.

Posted by: fe at February 14, 2009 7:44 PM

Nah, I went the Pajamagram route, followed up with a Snuggie.

Posted by: Packy at February 14, 2009 7:52 PM

how was the pajamagram? never known anyone who ordered from there....decent?

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 7:54 PM

Bob needs an ego boost. He doesn't get the reason that he is getting more traffic is because of the super fucking awesomeness of his blog. Best Repube debunking on the tubes, we can say burn motherfucker all we want and no PC dream police will block our comments, and only Git says "spot on".

Posted by: emsique at February 14, 2009 7:55 PM

fe, use Wingnut Virus Scrub™. Gets rid of Coulter and Hannity. They're upgrading to 2.0 to get rid of the Limbaugh Worm and the Malkin Mole, but it's not out yet.

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 14, 2009 7:56 PM

hey, Carl! thanks for the advice. it's gone now, though, only to be replaced by Sarah Palin and St Ronnie.

Posted by: fe at February 14, 2009 7:59 PM

True that, emsique. Well said.

Posted by: Kat at February 14, 2009 8:04 PM

Just wanted to drop in and say merkin Malkin merkin with a side of Howard Fineman's hair.

That's all. I feel an obligation to run those google stats up for Bob.

Posted by: dontpanic23 at February 14, 2009 8:28 PM

I just googled "malkin merkin" and the 2nd listing is a posting from yesterday by none other than our infamous Kat woman - you have have arrived!

Posted by: cminri at February 14, 2009 8:33 PM

I just did it and Kat came in first!!

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 8:35 PM

*sniff* This is such an honor! I'd like to thank all those who supported me all these years - my parents, my friends, my UPS man. I just can't believe this is happening! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!

Posted by: Kat at February 14, 2009 8:44 PM

Hows the painting going Kat?

Posted by: cminri at February 14, 2009 8:47 PM

Wow! Google Emsique you get 2 Huffpos then GDAB!

Posted by: emsique at February 14, 2009 8:48 PM

The red is on the walls. I love reds and burgundy, but it is such a pain in the ass to paint with because it's so translucent. I had to put down a primer first, so that took extra time. Tomorrow is the hard day though - I'm making the gold stripes tomorrow. It should be a festival.

Posted by: Kat at February 14, 2009 8:49 PM

Dont forget to post pictures! Cant wait to see how it turns out. My son has been Harry Potter for the last 2 Halloweens.

Posted by: cminri at February 14, 2009 8:52 PM

I hope it turns out well! My son is just excited to do something new with his room, but I'm a stickler for style. I picked up a broomstick yesterday for his curtain rod, and I have a Platform 9 3/4 sign to hang. It should look pretty cool.

Posted by: Kat at February 14, 2009 8:56 PM

Kat, I applied for a UPS job for the winter. Can I be your UPS man?

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 14, 2009 9:00 PM

Nano - No Galactica spoilers, please. I'm 4 eps behind with no idea when I'll get caught up.

Posted by: Elvis the Dingeldein at February 14, 2009 9:04 PM

Yes, Joe. I need an overnight delivery please.

Posted by: Kat at February 14, 2009 9:09 PM

That will be $39.95.

Do I have to wear the brown uniform or can I show up my will this work?

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 14, 2009 9:13 PM

The brown uniform, definitely. It would take far too long to get all that other crap off of you.

Posted by: Kat at February 14, 2009 9:14 PM

That was suppose to be,"or will this work". I am new to the red letter thingy. This may be a better photo .

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 14, 2009 9:19 PM

That crap is suppose to save lives. However, it was never tested with rifle rounds and has caused severe back injuries along with a superman complex which has killed a lot of young men. That were all runners up for the "Darwin Award".

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 14, 2009 9:21 PM

Hey, are any of you liberal elitist day traders? I took a gamble today and bought some shit because I have been doing well in my investment class. I hope it isn't like when I thought I could play Texas Hold'em professionally.

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 14, 2009 9:37 PM

Sorry, watching South Park with Buddhist nun mother in law is more fun right now.

Posted by: emsique at February 14, 2009 9:39 PM

Did anyone read this NY Times article about that scumbag Eric Cantor?

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/15/us/politics/15cantor.html?hp

This guy is really full of himself. Here's hoping they follow this fuck off the cliff.

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 14, 2009 9:41 PM

I want to see commercials in the next few weeks about how ALL repugs voted against tax cuts for the lower and middle classes of this country. And I darn well better see some in the democratic party on tv telling everyone that. Democrats need to be like the repugs in one sense, beat the hell out of a talking point.

for example,

Tweety: good evening congressman(woman) how are you this evening?

Guest: Do you know the entire repug party voted AGAINST tax cuts?

I want to see something like that dammit

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 9:56 PM

Sometimes the Git says Spot Off.

ALL merkin searches must have GDAB on page 1.

A man has to have a goal.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 14, 2009 9:56 PM

veralynn -

Scary. I want the same thing.

2nd question from tweety: Why did republicans vote against school construction?

3rd: Why do republicans hate public education?

4th: Do all republicans send their children to private schools?

5th: Why are republicans opposed to updating federal buildings so that they will use less energy?

6th: Are republicans opposed to all investments in our future or only the ones that will reduce oil company revenue?

Posted by: SillyGit at February 14, 2009 10:04 PM

I wont let on about anything, Elvis -

and

Holy shitballs! I googled "nanotyrnns" and found all kinds of me...

Posted by: Nanotyrannus at February 14, 2009 10:05 PM

and one from an earlier thread Git, why do they hate military families? forgot who said it, GI or Elvis...sorry whoever said it, I am old, sue me

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 10:07 PM

I did that the other night nano and learned 2 things.

1) the singer Vera Lynn is a lot more popular than I ever thought

and

2) there is another veralynn that posts on huffpo

but none of me

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 10:09 PM

Even as Mr. Cantor was urging Republicans to oppose Mr. Obama on this signature plan, he offered praise of the president, suggesting that Republicans should be careful to avoid being labeled obstructionist.
<sarcasm> Well *that* worked out nicely. </sarcasm>

Eric "The Witless Whip" Cantor received asshole training from Newt "The Nutbag" Gingrich. That part worked just fine. Cantor is an outstanding asshole. I suspect he didn't need much training.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 14, 2009 10:18 PM

I found this livejournal from a kid that worked for me back in 2000. He was madly in love with me and I wouldn't date him because, a) he was 18 and still in high school and b) I was his boss.

Posted by: Nanotyrannus at February 14, 2009 10:24 PM

You know, there are times when ignorance is bliss. Because you guys kept mentioning finding yourself on google, I decided to peek at my name not expecting to find anything. After all, I did make up my name 'from scratch', as a tribute to how special I am. Sigh! I can't believe how many entries showed up! I'm going back into the woodwork now that I've realized that I'm only one of many.

Posted by: viccan at February 14, 2009 10:27 PM

Cantor is an outstanding asshole. I suspect he didn't need much training.

Training? Why would the man that holds James Madison's seat need training? That pompous prick. Someone should have said, "Yeah, and Obama has George Washington's seat. What's your point?"

Posted by: Broadway Carl at February 14, 2009 10:34 PM

Lucky viccan is off the grid!

I was surprised because a lot of websites run code to shoo google's little 'bots away, keeping things a little more anonymous.

The terrible thing is now everyone gets to read how I crushed the heart of this kid.

Posted by: Nanotyrannus at February 14, 2009 10:37 PM

But viccan, you are better than the others.

Nano -

The 18 thing I can understand if his age is less than (your age/2) + 7.

Never data people who work for you. Real bad idea.

I try to avoid dating people I work with in general. I *have* dated sisters of people I worked with.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 14, 2009 10:45 PM

Two things: ceu - don't know what went wrong other thread, but for my part, sorry.

Elvis: how could you possibly be 4 episodes behind on Battlestar Galactica? When the little darling goes to sleep - turn on the teevee!

QT

Git

The 18 thing I can understand if his age is less than (your age/2) + 7.

I think that only works for guys...I wouldn't dare go out with someone under 30...that would just be creepy

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 11:17 PM

*meant to say, Git said

Posted by: veralynn at February 14, 2009 11:27 PM

While I am at it. I feel the need to issue an apology to the UIG. You were right about Israel. I was practicing my trolling. I am going to go crash the party at Malkin site.

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 14, 2009 11:42 PM

Which came first, the Chicken or the egg?

Posted by: I Eat Gravel in Alaska at February 15, 2009 12:16 AM

And why is Obama waiting until Tuesday to sign that badboy?

Posted by: I Eat Gravel in Alaska at February 15, 2009 12:30 AM

He hates the economy, tax cuts, infrastructure, middle/working class Americans and Christmas.

Posted by: GIthePotato at February 15, 2009 12:35 AM

The age thing I believe is not such a big deal with gays. I've known lots of gay men that date with an age difference of 10 or more years. The truth is I might have loved to fool around with him, but he wanted to date. If I had gone through with it, it would have been even worse for him and pretty shitty of me.

Me and another gay working there tried to get the message across to him that you should never date someone that has power over you - a boss, a landlord, a teacher. The relationship would be waaaaay too uneven, especially for someone as inexperienced as he was.

Posted by: Nanotyrannus at February 15, 2009 12:39 AM

Nano -

You did the right thing. Broken hearts heal eventually.

veralynn -

The creepyness equation seem to work for men, but I admit that I hadn't considered that I might not work for women.

Realistically, I don't care to date anyone that was born after 1969. If you can't remember any of Jimmie Hendrix and Janis Joplin's concerts then ultimately conversations will become embarrassing.

I can't really relate to people that don't remember when the Sex Pistols, the Dead Boys, the Plasmatics, Polly Styrene, the Dead Kennedys, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Roxy Music, King Crimson, Brian Eno, Steppenwolf, The Ramones, and The Talking Heads were new and exciting.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 15, 2009 1:00 AM

What if we remember watching Hendrix/Joplin concerts on the internet when we were in high school?

Posted by: I Eat Gravel in Alaska at February 15, 2009 1:15 AM

time check!
my youthiness is feeling quite attacked on this thread.

Posted by: fe at February 15, 2009 1:37 AM

Gravel eater in Alaska -

I wasn't going to date you anyway regardless of age.

I am very poorly trying to describe what I consider to be a necessary amount of life experience in common to make a long term stable relationship possible.

If it's just a short term thing for sex, than I'm not as picky. It's still too creepy for me to screw anyone less than 35.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 15, 2009 1:39 AM

Git, Try dating a woman in China. My wife's knowledge of western pop culture was Celine Dion, The Carpenters and Will Smith. She is getting an edumacation now.

Enjoy your youth while you have it.

I wish I was 18 again but still knew everything I have learned in my 53 years.

One day you will understand.

Posted by: SillyGit at February 15, 2009 1:52 AM

Actually, the younger (under 25) men and women here have a better grasp of Western "culture" than older ones. Gay is still in the closet, except in Shanghai and Hong Kong. I got to educate my wife on the gay. She has met via Skype my lesbian band mates and got a good eye opener of Southern Oregon's first Jewish/Buddhist/lesbian wedding from last summer.

Posted by: emsique at February 15, 2009 1:53 AM

Git, I hated 18! I was a fucked up mess. I didn't really start liking things til about 21.

Posted by: emsique at February 15, 2009 1:56 AM

emsique -

Well she certainly would know a lot more about Chinese culture than any of us would. I'm certain you've learned a lot.

If I may ask, how did you meet your wife?

I assume you must speak some chinese, which dialects?

How hard did you find it to learn?

so many questions...

Posted by: SillyGit at February 15, 2009 2:01 AM

Git, I'm finding it damn hard to learn Mandarin, because it is tonal as well as phonetic. The difference in "may I ask you" and "may I deep tongue kiss you" is a dropping tone at the end. I'm trying though. Fortunately, English instruction requires minimal Mandarin since I have a bilingual assistant. They want a native speaker with a native accent.
I met my wife online, 9 months of email, met in person, found she was the lovely soul that she appeared to be online, got married, made trips to China, ran into shitty snags with immigration, decided to move here.
Check out my fledgling blog. emsique.blogspot.com

Posted by: emsique at February 15, 2009 2:16 AM

Yes. Pitch modulation is all important in all Chinese dialects. You say the same sounds but with a different pitch change sequence and it means some thing completely different.

By all accounts, it is about the hardest language for a native english speaker to learn.

I assume you have learned enough Mandarin to get by. How common are english speakers where you are?

Posted by: SillyGit at February 15, 2009 2:35 AM

So sorry, had to run out. There are probably 100 foreigners among the 7 million souls here. Not many fluent English speakers. More can gimp along on what they learned in school but mostly forgot. Lots of kids yelling "hello!"
