Conservatism

With CPAC wrapping up and Rush Limbaugh's masturbatory speech being replayed all over cable news, I think it's important to repeat: Conservatism, for all of its bluster, has failed. At least in our generation.

Reaganomics -- deregulatory trickle-down, supply-side economics -- has been a massive disaster. Privatization of our military and other public systems has failed. Socially conservative presidents have presided over increases in the abortion rate (so much for the respect for life thing that kid at CPAC was talking about). Conservative blindness to new technologies, science and the climate crisis has fostered the near death of the American automobile industry.

Where and how has it succeeded? And how can a comedian like Rush Limbaugh possibly be the solution?
