Online Town Hall
Watching the president's online town hall.
Weird. No teleprompters. Didn't Glenn Beck say he "always" uses them?

C'mon, Bob. You know all these questions are pre-screened and he knows what's coming and the answers were given to him in advance don't you? You can't be that naive.

You know I tried to look at this site the other night in the Wii's browser, and it would not load.

My theory is that Glenn Beck probably sees teleprompters where other people don't see anything at all.
It dovetails nicely with everything else about Mr. Beck.

Boo. Why doesn't O think legalizing marijuana will help the economy?

Compare and contrast the questions that were asked by the White House Press Corp at Tuesday night's presser with the questions asked by citizens at the On-line town hall. Now explain to me why I should consider the White House Press Corp to be looking out for my interests.
IMO, the bulk of the Corporatist Propaganda Networks should be ejected from the White House Press Corp since they serve no purpose other than to distract from real issues by asking about bullshit that does not matter.

OT: I am getting $18 bucks more in my paycheck. This may not seem like much to some, but as someone lives in NYC on very little (oh publishing, how I love thee) this is an extra grocery trip every two weeks. I am very very happy.

J - $18 does make a differnce. Especially if you take public transit with the new news that the MTA is raising the cost of subway fares again.
Besides, $18.00 x 52 weeks = $936.00 That's a lot more than the $300 rebate checks that Bush was handing out like candy not too long ago. If you're making $40000 per year, that's like getting a 2½% raise. It does add up.

How fucking cool is our President that he walks back into the room to apologize for not being able to stay and take pictures and sign autographs due to his schedule?

Git - WHAT? You mean as an American, A-Rod's steroid use isn't your highest priority?
Posted by: Packy at March 26, 2009 12:58 PM
@Carl: The MTA makes me want to hurt things.
This President is so freaking awesome. I think what makes me happiest about the extra dough is this series of events: President says we'll start to see the effects of the tax cut on or around April 1st. I start to see it around April 1st. I'm still blown away by a government that says they're going to do something good for me and then...actually does it. It's nice to actually trust your leadership.

@ J
I'm seeing about $10 more per check - a nice surprise when you do the math as BCarl did above.

...and that money is more likely to be spent (stimulative) than when folks are given big lump sums.
The cumulative effect on an individual's paycheck adds up, as does the effect of this kind of stimulus nationwide.

OK john. You have two choices. Either provide a link to a source that backs up your statement or admit that you are just gushing blatant misinformation.
The Recovery and Reinvestment Act contained the largest middle class income tax cut in history. Anyone making less than $250,000 a year is getting a tax cut.
You, Sir, are a lying sack of propaganda.
Posted by: SillyRatfacedGit at March 26, 2009 2:05 PM
p.s. John: I need the money now. I don't have a clue what I'll need next April. Money next April does not buy me groceries today. So I don't get as big a refund (or any refund) next year. So what? Budgeting on what you *might* get in the future is not helpful.
Posted by: J at March 26, 2009 2:17 PM
Dear john,
I get money back every April since I don't have children and don't own a home, so bite me.
P.S. I'm a female, so you might want to rethink that only "boys" read Bob's Awesome Blog.

Siilygit,
I agree with you. Our White House Press Corp reminds me of the gossiping "popular" crowd back in high school. They ran from rumor to rumor like a pack of lemmings. Now, one must ask this question; Where do lemmings end up?
We really do have a press problem in this country. From Lou "What in the world is going here!?" Dobbs to Billo the clown, from Chris Matthews to Keith Olberman, there's not a one I can muster, even in "Jeeeeeeezus be his name! prayer" the slightest bit of respect for.
The press does not exist to represent us, nor does it exist to tell the truth. The press only exists to sell itself. That's one of the hidden "dangers" of free speech. Nevertheless, no one here really wants the Pravda as our news source, do we?
I'm afraid we'll have to accept press "truth" manipulation for the time being.

Git & PPP:
With the exception of Mara Liason (and a few other similar 'tools'), NPR and PRI don't do too bad a job.
