The Eye of Sauron
Neil Peart's latest online essay is one of his best. It documents his quest to find the source of a mysterious and looming Eye of Sauron: a cellphone tower currently blighting his wintry Quebec "soulscape."
Incidentally, if Peart were an objectivist, which he isn't, he wouldn't be so concerned with the commons (the shared wilderness) in the face of a thriving industry.

Nice piece, indeed. But Peart *was* an Objectivist, wasn't he? I mean 2112 and Freewill are pretty clearly in that camp. Any idea when he grew out of it?

I don't think Peart was a serious Randian. "Rush" was just being fashionably nihilist.
Thanks for linking to that article. It warmed my French-Canadian heart.

Very good article. Had to wait until the end of the day to read it through, but was worth the time. We should appreciate the night sky more, perhaps unfortunately too few of us have seen how many stars fill the sky when artifical lights are absent.
