'I Pray To God You Are'

ThinkProgress reports from the Virginia tea parties:

The guy who says that he "prays to God" that the tea baggers are right wing extremists (white supremacists, militia members and the like, according to the DHS report) isn't really doing his side any favors.

Wow. May God have mercy on their souls. And most of them think their Christians. Again Wow...

These people are insects.

Do you think the guy with the Ronald shirt realizes that taxes under him were higher than anything Obama has proposed? Way way higher.

Right on.

One affect of the teabagger fail is that it's brought attention to that disturbingly large minority of Americans who live in an alternate universe. We're seeing just how widespread the conspiracy paranoia is. We're finding out that hte only way to live in that parallel universe is to turn the truth inside out.

On my blog today, I've got the video of GOP House rep Barrett being booed by the teabag crowd for having the gall to vote against the collapse of the global economy. There's also a video made by an Alex Jones conspiracy nut talking about Barrett and the plans to boo him off the stage. What I found most striking was that the conspiracy nut says the tea parties are genuine grass roots -- and the GOP is trying to hijack them.

IMHO, FreedomWorks has no idea how badly they've fucked up their "movement" by putting it on display.

Nah, GOP leaders aren't fomenting violent actions. Just more liberal media bias it is. "Patriots" "Blood of Tyrants" Defending Trees of Liberty". Morans defending The Tree of Stupid is more like it, by falling out of it and hitting every single branch coming down. It's going to be a long eight years.

"Do you think the guy with the Ronald shirt realizes that taxes under him were higher than anything Obama has proposed? Way way higher."

No. Why should facts matter to them?

Though please, someone tell me again how this was not a far right ideologically driven event.

Matt - I think it has moreso brought attention to the education deficit in the country.

These people couldn't be manipulated and herded so easily if they weren't so plainly ignorant.

What I mentioned about Raegen's taxes is a prime example of this. Go open any history book used in regular entry-level classes and youll find that theres about 2 pages dedicated to the past 4 presidents. So all they have to go off of is seeing people on TV worshiping Raegen as a saint.

Its ignorance.

Does anyone know where Bachman & the lady on this video are getting this "mandatory" service/Hitler youth camp idea?!?

Posted by: The Colonel at April 18, 2009 6:07 PM

Colonel, it probably comes from Alex Jones. He's America's biggest propagator of this sort of tinfoil hattery.

It seems Rahm Emanual was on some left friendly Talk Show not to long ago, spouting off about how he would like to see (as a matter of oweing it to thier country) every American citizen forced into 50 hrs of community service each year. And, how every Young Adult should be forced into atleast 2 years of Military Service.

The video should be on You Tube.

Posted by: Titan at April 18, 2009 6:48 PM

How eager they are to be slaves.

Posted by: Nanotyrannus at April 18, 2009 7:02 PM

I apologize. It's 3 months of Civil defense training for every young adult between 18-25 yrs of age.

There's also a video of Youngters, dressed in matching outfits, marching at a training camp, as thier are chanting "Yes we can".

It's sort of strange, because they are Marching swinging thier arms.(Kind of resembles the days of the Hitler youth!)

Obama mentions mandatory civil service during one of his speeces also.

Posted by: Titan at April 18, 2009 7:16 PM

Yes, I can see how the National Service Corp would be much worse than gang banging or dragging gay kids behind trucks or shooting up in the back alley. Whew...thanks for the warning, next thing Obama will make us do is spell check before entering a comment post and we all know that leads to socialism or fascism or something that Sean Hannity once said that one time.

Posted by: Wilson at April 18, 2009 7:28 PM

It's not kind oF "WARNING", Dip Shit. It's also not some freakin "Far-Right Conpiracy"

I was mearly pointing it out because someone was interested. (Read the entire thread before you open your stupid trap. And, thanks for the spelling lesson professor!)

Take that! Take That!

Come on. Has it been a hundred days yet.

Wait till 2010 and your forced to defend the War Criminals.

Thanks for the head up, Titan. Can you please provide some links to those stories and videos? It would be greatly appreciated.

What ignorance and paranoia! And I am so sorry to say some of my friends and family fall under that category! I live in SC and I'm swimming in a sea of red!

Many countries have mandatory Military Service. Switzerland and Isreal are two examples. I don't see a problem with this. I think that if people want to call themselves Patriots and put silly ribbons on their car perhaps they should put their money where their mouth is.

I would have no objection to performing 50 hours of community service every year for the same reason. I think only faux Americans would object. Fake Patriots are assholes. They scream at people they disagree with but when their turn to serve their country comes up they are no where to be found.

Posted by: Silly Ratfaced Git at April 18, 2009 8:49 PM

Mandatory community service? Pfftt! Who gives a fuck. What I'd like to see is "mandatory retail service". Any president that orders that as a way of teaching people not be such helpless asshats when they visit my stores will get my vote, my money, and a blowjob or two.

Posted by: Nanotyrannus at April 18, 2009 10:33 PM

What Obama proposed is for high school students perform some kind of community service project as part of their education. This is something that some school districts already do.

I think republicans hate it because they fear it will teach an entire generation to give a shit about poor people.

When I see all these films from the tea baggin events, I see them as precursors to some really unpleasant events down the road. It can't take too much longer before this combination of unstable, paranoid and uneducated protestors and deliberately inflammatory rhetoric leads to violence. I predict we'll see at the very least some cases of serious violence before summer is over, at worst some actual domestic terrorism and/or deaths.

Barely 3 months out of power, and this is where they're at? Can you imagine what it will be like one, two or three years from now? It's not going to be pretty.

Posted by: Teaflax at April 19, 2009 2:20 AM

I've been feeling the same way for a long time, Teaflax. The hard right really doesn't take defeat very well. They become dangerously unhinged when a democrat gets into the White House. Remember the spate of nuts shooting at the White House during Clinton's first year in office? It won't be long until we see something similar to that really soon.
