Speechless

After I watched the following clip from Media Matters, I stared at the screen -- speechless -- for a good minute or so.

HAHAHAHA! He skipped over a section of his prepared remarks! ZING! POW! What a doof! Can you believe it? He decided to skip over a section of his -- HOO-HOO! -- his speech! Stupid silly president and his stupid silly skipping sections of speeches!

One of the most important aspects of successfully winning a debate and influencing people is to avoid desperation. And this worn out teleprompter attack is hugely desperate. There's literally no substance to it -- they might as well be saying, "Hey look! He's wearing shoes! HOO-HOO!"

I should not have watched this just after eating my eggs benedict. What are you trying to do, kill me?

Yes, people like Hannity are sounding more and more shrill every day. But the fact that they are the last to realize how they look still boils my blood.

How about we link to that infamous video of BillO the Loofah Clown freaking out over his teleprompter saying [insert band name] plays us out.

The stupid idiot didn't know what 'plays us out' means. I've never worked in TeeVee and *I* know what that means. Does Bill konw what seque is? How about 'cue'?

If Sean has never skipped shit on *his* teleprompter then he is the first ever.

Hannity is a disingenous piece of shit. He is a propaganda dispenser. He should be selling used cars in Tarzana or Canoga Park.

If the most this sorry excuse for a reporter can come up with is 'Obama needs his teleprompter', they don't have a damn thing to talk about.

I just got a call from a kid saying that Specter is changing his party affiliation to Dem. - being reported by MSNBC.
Yes, no??

Posted by: ceu at April 28, 2009 12:24 PM

I missed KD & midad saying the same thing - this is where skimming instead of reading gets ya.

Wondering now if Lieberman will become a Republican just to be a douche & keep the Senate from being 60 Dems....

Sean Vannity = Henry Hawk

Posted by: Lexaburn at April 28, 2009 12:35 PM

Of coarse President Bush never had teleprompter scripting and usage issues.

Posted by: bjritz at April 28, 2009 12:38 PM

Chris - YES.

We now have a filibuster proof Senate (Only need 59 until Franken is seated). The GOP now has no reason to hold up Franken's seating.

Specter has become disillusioned with Teh Crazy™ currently embraced as the Republican Party Platform. Specter is many things but a mindless follower is not one of them. He also knows that his constituents will not tolerate blatant obstructionism. He may not get reelected. The urban areas voted for him because he was a sensible moderate that looked out for his constituents. The rural areas voted for him because he was a republican. This will be interesting to see what happens next year. I've always had respect for him in spite of the single bullet theory.

Someone made the comment that this news (Specter switching sides) hurts both parties.

Yeah, I'm sure that it is very painful for the Democrats to hold their laughter in as result of this news. I know my side would be splitting from the pain (laughter).

Whoo-Hoo!

I have always respected Specter, also (he's one of my senators,) even though I have disagreed with him on many issues. Git's exactly right: he tries very hard to work for his constituents.

He might get re-elected, though. There's a lot of those pesky blue-collar dems here that will take him over someone more liberal. Toomey will probably be a lock for the (R) nomination.

Jenski42 -

I grew up in suburban Philly (Chester Co.) so I actually voted for Arlen at least once. My parents still lived there until a couple of years ago so I kept up wiTh Philly Politics. I was a Newspaper Photographer when Arlen was Philly D.A.

Politicians in PA are now saying that they think Specter has a better chance winning reelection as a democrat. They think he will gain more urban and suburban votes as a democrat than he will lose in the rural areas. Considering that Toomey is the likely opponent, I have to agree that I think this was a smart move.

If the Republicans had not insisted on punishing him, he would have stayed a Republican. They gave him no choice.

Keep digging that pit you arrogant gumby pricks. You are going to be in it a very long time. Pretty soon even your base is going to realize that they've tied themselves to losers.

On the teleprompter thing: Obama even described WHY he was getting them to skip a section - because he'd already introduced people that the notes being displayed were apparently telling him to introduce. Which means, of course, that he's actually thinking AND speaking at the same time - Certain Other People We Could Name would have just gone ahead, blindly reading what's in front of him, and re-introduced those people, leaving those present thinking "what the hell? He already introduced them!", but not giving Certain Fox News Idiots anything to hoot at.

I'd very much like to see Hannity's point of view sometime, the large-print teleprompters displaying phonetically-spelled words and, in case he doesn't laugh hysterically when the screen says "NOW U LAFF", images of Iraqis being tortured.
