Damn! You beat me by seconds!

Sigh just got home from dinner with family. It seems like every year that goes by I have a harder time connecting with their conversation.
Its not that I don't understand it, its that I understand it too well so I end up sitting there thinking 'you have no idea.' Its almost like visiting another culture for a couple hours.

An Open Letter to James Dobson and other members of the Christian Right engaged in the culture war.
We are tired of persons like yourself referring to anyone that does not kowtow to your ideology as 'Evil'. Who appointed you as judge/jury/executioner of America? Your statements are more like what I would expect from a Spanish Inquisitor than from a contemporary educated Christian.
Your self-righteous indignation would be humorous were it were not so bigoted. It is possible to lead a highly moral life totally without belief in supernatural fairy tale constructs. One does not have to believe in a God to recognize that Christ had some very good ideas about how to properly lead ones life. Perhaps you should review what Christ had to say about judging others and rendering unto Caesar. How did so called Christians like yourself become so hateful? You seem to have missed Christ's biggest point.
If you continue your crusade of Christofascism and attempts to turn our secular democratic republic into a Christian Fundamentalist Republic, then we shall push congress to do away with tax exemptions for churches. The SCOTUS has already ruled that this tax exempt status is equivalent to a subsidy, so it can be argued that the Federal government has no business subsidizing anyone's religion since it denies equal protection to atheists. If congress is unwilling to act, it shall be taken to the courts since this subsidy is clearly unconstitutional.
I suggest you stop pushing your luck by attacking others that obviously disagree with you. Perhaps your time would be better spent removing the beam from your own eye.
Happy Easter and Ramen.

The Christofascists are really starting to piss me off. Can you tell?
Posted by: SillyRatfacedGit at April 12, 2009 7:15 PM
@fe, when/if you show up - Props. I took my own advice after you clued in some of us who didn't already know and put up an urbandictionary.com definition for 2M4M (which I recently found it is actually probably more often expressed as MM4M, but too late to edit that extra bit of info into my UD entry).
Oh, dear. Looks like I just recently got my first thumbs down. Guess some of the NOM folks are finding their way there now, heh.

nicely done git, i would add that they would judge and dismiss jesus if he showed up on their doorstep and maybe they should think about that when they call others outside their limited scope evil.
but that may just be me
Posted by: veralynn at April 12, 2009 7:22 PM
Craigs list folks don't follow the proper algorithm for Acronyms and Codes.
It really should be M24M which is confusing so MM4M is better.
WWWC becomes W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)
CCCI becomes C3I (Command Control Communications and Intelligence)
etc.
Posted by: Silly Anti-Christofascist Git at April 12, 2009 7:26 PM
Veralynn - Nope. Not just you. You nailed it. These asshats would argue with Christ over his own teachings since they know more about what he had in mind than he did. Ask them. They'll tell you.

I want Ana Marie Cox to go on Maddow's show again and do for 2M4M what she did for teabagging.
(O/T: When did Ana Marie go butch?! I liked her with longer hair...)
Posted by: Matt Osborne at April 12, 2009 7:50 PM
Thanks, Vera. I'll take the whole ten. I don't even feel 7.5s anymore.
Sorry, I don't use bongs. (Passing the woodie pipe I bought from a hippie homesteader at Bonnaroo)
My ailment isn't temporary, unfortunately. I'll be living with it the rest of my life, courtesy of the US Army.

Git,
James Dobson(I refuse to acknowledge his doctorate of bullshit) was almost successful at ruining my life as a child. I have been waiting for this day for over 20 years. My biggest fear is that some other lunatic is ready and willing to replace him. The Culture War is far from over. Hopefully, the American people will continue to ignore this chapter of stupidity in American.

Posted by: jane at April 12, 2009 9:15 PM
Public Service Announcement
Once upon a time the primary source of income for the simple grifter who was not up to the big con was sale of snake oil which is the generic name for a large variety of patent medicines and remedies. Most of these contained ethanol as the only active ingredient although cocain and various opiates became common ingredients in teh 1910s and 20s.
In the 1920s the accidental deaths caused by some of the worst of these preparations caused the formation of the FDA which put the snake oil grifters out of business overnight.
Not wanting to starve and also not wanting to do any actual work they looked for something that the federal government would not get involved in. Suddenly a hoard of exsnakeoil salesmen became salesmen of the Gospel, Evangelists of the Jeebus Baby and purveyors of eternal salvation.
To this day the vast majority of these bible thumpers are low quality conmen not good enough for the big con. Lafayette Ronald Hubbard is the exception. Scientology *is* a big con.
Now back to our regularly scheduled PTT
Posted by: Silly Anti-Christofascist Git at April 12, 2009 9:20 PM
jane,
add stretch to your comment too. he was on MTP this week saying that the pirates were 'holding the most powerful force in the world in a standoff". He wasn't the only one saying, there were others. what a deep thought! Too bad it doesn't stand up to reality. Of course they could have been straffed to death at any time. As I read on this site on Friday...it shows real strength not to go in with guns blazing. The US Navy realized these were unsophisticated goons, kept the hostage alive, in sight, and at the right time, they reacted.
I will not hold my breath waiting for stretch to say "I guess I was wrong in my assessment."
I look forward to see how some will twist this into a failure. You know they will.

I'll issue permits to ladies, with Joe, Carl, Red and Matt taking turns.

Yeah, I and the friends I was with have a little problem with guys and their spandex (NO OFFENSE BOB), and we saw quite a few today that should *really* wait until they're in better shape.
Also, I am confident that Kat will be willing to "take a chubby for the team" and be on the Spandex-judging lineup.

Laffy at TPC blogs about new Salon article. BushCo covered up high lead levels in D.C. known about by the CDC since 2004. A family whose twins suffer severe developmental problems from lead exposure are suing for $200M. I think Bush and Cheney should have to pick up this tab personally.

Hi everyone
Ady-glad you didn't get arrested and yet sad by it as well, I am very conflicted lol
Git- I am good, I don't want to see most people in spandex and yes there should be an age limit. And might I add speedo's to this list?
I think kat and jane and gypsy are up for the job, they are younger and can handle it better than I can lol
gypsy-last night was a bitch
Posted by: veralynn at April 12, 2009 11:17 PM
I forgot to add Ady- did you have a great time? the weather was great here, I hope it was there as well
Posted by: veralynn at April 12, 2009 11:18 PM
VeraLynn, it was beautiful there, and I'm all conflicted too, so it's okay.
Tell me, Git...we'd hammer you about what? Don't make me go back up there and read all that.
Adding: While all this attention is being paid to Gov. Palin, crazy ass Governors Sanford and Jindall are flying under the radar more than they should. Both of them have their eyes trained on 2012 too.
Posted by: AdyLeigh at April 12, 2009 11:23 PM
Phil Munger at Progressive Alaska blogs that Palin may withdraw WAR's nomination as AG. The Progressive blogs in Alaska had put a full court press in effect to get the info out that Wayne Anthony Ross is a megadouchenozzle and is totally unfit to be AG. My fingers are crossed that this is true. Wolfe Tone will be ecstatic as will gravel and packy. All of the AK blogs that I read have hammered this scumbag all week.
Posted by: Silly Anti-Christofascist Git at April 12, 2009 11:27 PM
I gather that you live in AK? You seem to be uber-up on the news there.
Posted by: fe at April 12, 2009 11:28 PM
For instance, Sanford did this: Less than 10 hours before deadline, Gov. Mark Sanford sent a letter to the Obama administration Friday to accept on behalf of South Carolina all but $700 million of the nearly $8 billion in federal stimulus money the state stands to receive to jump-start its economy."
This is the second time he's done something like this...Gads! The man is a complete nutcase.
Posted by: AdyLeigh at April 12, 2009 11:29 PM
Git- they really have been tearing this up, and I love it!! that guy has no business being in government at any level. Of course, he is the typical kind of person that we have been seeing in or national politics as well. TPC has been enjoyable on this subject as well

Posted by: veralynn at April 12, 2009 11:32 PM
Ady -
I'll give you the highlites of the hammerable offense.
jane complained that she saw too many men today wearing spandex that should not have been wearing spandex.
I commented that one should have to obtain a permit to wear spandex. (I agree speedos too)
Then I made a foolish mistake and said:
I'd trust jane, kat, and nano to decide which men get a permit. (Actually I'd trust all of the ladies here.)
Of course gypsy and fe were unhappy that they were not explicitly listed. I could not not list jane, I value my life, plus she was the one complaining about fatasses wearing spandex in the first place. So I figured that you and vera and minx would also be unhappy with me.
Do read my first post, it's the fourth from the top. It's an open letter to Christofascists.

Git,
I hope to hell Sarah DOES withdraw his name.
It would be the first smart thing she has done this year.
Aside from being an arrogant, misogynistic, homophobic, racist douchebag, Wayne Anthony Ross. is simply NOT qualified.
As a legal mind and as an attorney, W.A.R. is mediocre at best.
I railed some more tonight, BTW.
Posted by: Wolfe Tone at April 12, 2009 11:56 PM
We do have more Alaskans here than one would expect from a State with only a million people. Packy, I eat Gravel, and Wolfe Tone are Alaskans and bloggers.
I may be the only one from FL. Our politics is not real exciting. Crist is a good fellow even if he is a Republican. Bill Posey is our huge fucktard in FL atm. He's the shit for brains that wants to pass the law requiring a presidential candidate to show their birth certificate to the hall monitor or whomever.
Cousinavi wrote about his grandmother getting fucked by a gator. The link is up there about a third of the way down.
I don't know where cousinavi hails from.
Posted by: Silly Anti-Christofascist Git at April 12, 2009 11:58 PM
I've been devouring AK politics since I worked for the Obama campaign and it was announced that Palin was McCain's VP pick. My point was simply that, while Palin's politics and decisions resemble a train wreck, and her family life would make a great Jerry Springer show, Sanford is just as nuts and has his eye on 2012 too. Sure, he's discussed elsewhere, but so is Palin. And what about Jindal? All 3 of them are worthy of discussion IMHO.
Git, lol. I'll go back as soon as I get the chance...

Matt I hope you feel better very soon
Posted by: veralynn at April 13, 2009 12:08 AM
Good evening everyone. Here is my summary on two events that occured this past week.
1.) President Obama's bow: Commonly refered to as the SALAAM SALEEM greeting. By definition it means; I come in peace and peace be unto you. The stronger of the two, is actually the person who approach's and offers this greeting. I posted this on Huffpo and immediately received an e-mail from a retired US Colonel(Patrick Lang), who just happens to advise the Israeli IDF and speaks at the Heritage Foundation on Military Operations issues. Needless to say, I am a bit PO'd that my inbox has been spammed all week since I made this post.
2.) I also came across an interesting article in the Israeli newspaper Sederot posted Nov. 11, 2008 regarding the true reasoning for the Gaza Strip attacks. Turns out Hamas had just notified Israel that they would no longer be buying diesel from the Israeli government. The tunnels that we assumed were being used for weapons smuggling had actually been transporting fuel from Egypt. If you recall the Israeli offensive, considerable effort was spent on destroying, said tunnels and wrecking the neighborhood where the tunnels exit into Gaza. I tried to post on Huffpo, but it seems that my post was censored.
3.) Last but not least, the wingnuts appear to be losing their minds trying to label our President as too weak on foreign policy, too aggresive on spending. In one fell swoop, he discredits the entire GOP by turning loose the military to rescue the hostage(captain) in Somalia. I gotta say, the man is 3 steps ahead of any President we've had in the last thirty years. I'm proud we elected him to be our President.

Good to hear from you. I just checked and yes you have a new post up that I haven't read yet. TY.
I did not have much hope that WAR would be blocked. I did not appear that anyone did. It was assumed that the Rs would vote Palin's way since they have grown attached to their scrota and they outnumber the Ds.
I've got my fingers crossed that what Phil heard is true.

I guess Phil Munger has real good sources.
From Wolfe's link:
Wayne Anthony Ross goes down the drain
Palin's pick for Alaska's Attorney General doesn't have the votes.
So some of the Rs are not voting for him. Great news.

And they continue to fuck us...I hope the tea baggers are happy in their support of corporate tax breaks..
"Banks say that raising fees and rates, even on low-risk customers, is a legitimate way to recoup some of the costs of the bad loans still on their books. They also say taxpayers have a financial interest in seeing the industry quickly return to profitability. Any revolt over price hikes could intensify the crisis by depriving institutions of a key income source, say banks. New restrictions on these lending practices “may truly have an impact on profitability”, said Gerard Cassidy, a bank analyst with RBC Capital Markets."
Guess what Tea Bag Morons....once again you've been duped!
I post this here because I know they read this site!

Hey folkses, thanks for the all proudly erect digits. ;)
My precocious senility is preventing me from remembering where exactly I first saw this, if here or somewhere else, but I think it's well worth checking out: 2M4M.org
Still in its nascent stages, but coming together very nicely. I like the new addition in the logo of the wedding rings for the O's in "two" and "for." I saw another site where folks helped park other possible similar domains, so all will redirect back to 2M4M.org. Just 2M4M.com was already taken. Be interesting to see what, if anything, develops there anytime soon.

I am sooooo sick of the right wing conservative spin dominating the air waves.
Why do we allow them to dictate to a majority of Americans?
We need to take back America from these people.
They are the greatest threat to our freedom.
Enough said. Take back America from the wing nuts
Posted by: Diane at April 13, 2009 1:38 AM
>>Women have far and away the more attractive bodies.
That's an arbitrary standard, due to conditioning, IMO. If women were the ruling class and men the sex class, then you all could be the ones parading around half-clothed in shorts and skimpy tops and adorning yourselves to be especially attractive to women, while we would likely generally wear more nondescript, utilitarian clothing and no makeup. And parts of male bodies would become fetishized the same way women's are now, leading to the male being the "ideal" of beauty and sexual desire and the object of "the gaze."
Anyway, that's my somewhat Ursula Le Guin-esque interpretation of how it might be if things were reversed, say if women could secrete a poison when under stress or in danger that only affected men, thus compensating for/eliminating any power differential that's been the result of male physical prowess over the eons. No more male-female rape. Child-bearing/child-rearing is still a sticky wicket in this scenario, but a friend sent me info about males actually being capable of lactating under some circumstances, and with a little extra hormonal help, no doubt men could take over that duty, along with raising the tots up too.
No, I didn't take no druks. Well, just a half an Ambien, which can do some strange things to me. So I think I'll go lie down now and maybe dream about alternate gender realities. And maybe even a half-spandexed Johnny Depp, while I'm at it. Ciao, bellas.

Great comment IC
You must read science fiction as do I. Radical shifts in POV often induce great insights.
