Very Serious Question

Given that the far-right spent most of this decade hectoring us about undermining the commander-in-chief during wartime, isn't all of this secession hooey perhaps the ultimate undermining of the president's authority?

Adding... My usual caveat for wingnut trolls and lurkers. I'm being ironical about the undermining thing.

Say, I am fixing to agree with you on this one, Bob. It's sad, but the wrong wing inflammatory types (you all know, Beck, Malkin & the other usual suspects) would be out of a job if they were rational. These are the same individuals that called poor loser upon Al Gore when he didn't immediately give up the election that was stolen from him in 2000. Hmmm, who is tantruming & needs a time out now?

I have been wondering that for a while. I seem to remember that under the Bush Administration anyone who criticized was anti-patriot, Anti-America, Anti-our troops... heck many wanted the the Dixie Chicks hung for treason! You were either "with them or against them". Don't get me wrong I am all for free speech but boy do the tides change when you are on the losing side.

Well, let's be fair: It's all coming from one source, and it's the same source that has been 100% against any agenda put forth by the Democrats since their inception in 1996. When the Left was attacking Bush Doctrine materials, FAUX News called them seditious. Their material has not changed, not in the least, in the past 8 years. For the past 8 years, they were not supporting the party of the President--they were merely attacking the Democrats. And so they continue to do so. They needn't recognize irony. Their goal is not to educate or to provoke intelligent debate, but instead to rile people up. And there's no more easily-riled group of people than the "conservative" movement (I use the quotation marks because, of course, we all know what true conservatism is, and it doesn't look anything like the modern-day Republican party).

Rile-em up, and ride-em out, it's always been the Repug way. However now, the Repugs are more desperately trying to find anything, anything at all, of any real substance, or value, that is not Democratic, than at any other time in my memory. I'm so glad the majority of Americans now recognize what's really going on.

It's sometimes hard to gauge the craziest thing the far right says, however I'd put the secession thing near the top of the list.

The underlying issue is that the far right has no interest in anything approaching a fair debate, a reasonable solution, or even a negotiated compromise. Their only interest is in winning the argument.

Tactics don't matter, fairness doesn't matter, even being right doesn't matter. The goal is to either yell louder than the other side, or failing that, throw enough mud in the water that no one can tell what the debate was over in the first place.

Sadly, they are quite good at this.

"I'm being ironical about the undermining thing."

You shouldn't be. It's a dead serious issue, and I'm being honest when I say that anyone talking about secession right now is seriously attempting to undermine the President, and it's perfectly acceptable to question their patriotism. Off with their heads!

Oh, we don't do that anymore, do we? Alright, string 'em up!

For those of you that don't know, the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party was started and promoted by Youtube Thomas Paine. I was at the TEA party and as Polosi opens her stupid mouth calling this astroturf, perhaps she should READ the flag we fly " DON'T TREAD ON ME!!" I’m real tired of being called a republican right wing, perhaps you should have come to the TEA party and listened to what was said. NO PARTIES!!! Are you hearing it clear enough. I’m not right or left, I am an AMERICAN and I like my FREEDOM. I happen to be be pro-choice, pro-gun, pro-gay marriage, pro-stem cell, boy I’m as right wing as they get. I’ve never asked the govt. for anything and never will. In turn the govt. never came around with a spare tit so they don’t get a voice in MY house. If I want a gas guzzler, MY choice. If I want a personal assult rifle, MY choice. The govt. doesn’t have the right to force me to be charitable. If I want to be charitable with my money, ITS MY CHOICE. I shouldn’t have to feel compassion for 20 million illegals with MY MONEY! English only PLEASE! Secure my borders, a nation without borders is NOT a nation. We are not a welfare state for corrupt foreign countries. I don’t want the govt. telling me what car I can drive, how much electric I can use, or what doctor I can see or how much I spend on my meds. I was mad with clinton, bush and obama. I sick of the direction they (republican and democrats alike)are taking MY country. I expect them to follow the constitution…. I started in life poor,as did my husband we worked hard to get were we are. We ain't your daddy, the government ain’t your daddy, get off your lazy, you owe me a handout, butt and WORK. If you want to try a socialist lifestyle that’s great, pack your crap and move to France. I can’t move to another capitolist country, this is it and we have piggy backed the worlds finances long enough. NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND!!!!! I’ll keep my money and my guns YOU KEEP YOUR CHANGE

"In turn the govt. never came around with a spare tit so they don’t get a voice in MY house."

I'm not so sure I would want the government to supply a spare tit, voice or no voice in MY house. Is that an option where you live? Used or new and does it come with a warranty or money back guarantee? Is it normally just the one spare tit or can you get two, because two is always better than one, at least in MY house.
