'Tax Cheats'
I'm looking forward to observing the tea party reaction to the president's plan to go after corporate tax loopholes .
For instance, Michelle Malkin is already referring to it as a "crackdown on corporate tax cheats." So while Malkin is doing her stupid overused "snort" bit -- accusing Geithner of hypocrisy -- she's clearly supporting the president's position that corporations are cheating the system. Michelle Malkin supports the president on taxes!
But I predict in a day or two, Malkin will be screeching about how President Obama is raising taxes on corporations.

President Obama could resign tomorrow and Malkin would accuse him of being arrogant about it.

Fox is already using the "this will end up raising prices to consumers" meme.

This is way overdue and should have happened sooner IMO. I'll take now however and run with it because this is not just good news, this is great news. I was beginning to wonder if the President had forgotten this one.
The Republicans will be screaming bloody murder over this move. Taxing the corporations is just not done under fascism so the fascists shall have a shit fit.
Michelle lives in the fully fabricated fantasy surreality where the corporations and top 1% rule everything and let their urine trickle down to the bottom 99% and the bottom 99% are grateful to be pissed on and fed soylent green while the Master Race cavorts in Barbados.
I usually don't notice Michelle's snorts because on the rare occasion that I see her on my TeeVee I am usually too busy snorting myself at the delusional tripe that she spews like she is some pundit whose opinion I should cherish. Her opinion is immediate bit-bucket fodder IMO. Her garbage is not even worth parsing once before disposal.

I'm looking forward to the President going after those loophole cheats, too...right after he gives Chrysler to Fiat, along with 8.5 Billion dollars, and over a thousand jobs in Kenosha, WI to Mexico. Then we can go after those tax cheats.
Bob, this doesn't look good any way you slice it. I love Barrack Obama, but I do not like him or his administration today.

Gypsy,
I'd just hide it in tax-deferred products, many of which our wonderful elected officials make use of...which means you won't be seeing those loopholes ending any time soon.

PPP, you do realize that most Chrysler products are probably assembled in Mexico right? Look at when Toyota started in NASCAR, all the rednecks complained that it was a Japanese car, that's true, but the model it was based on is the only of the four that was actually assembled in the US.

Raising taxes on corporations...by making corporations pay their taxes.
Posted by: rogect8 at May 4, 2009 10:33 PM
thruwithbuzz,
You do get what my point was, right? An American plant is being closed down, and Americans are losing their jobs because Fiat (foreign auto maker) wants to build a brand new plant and move ALL of those jobs to Mexico, on the taxpayer dime.
If you were paying attention, you'd have heard President Obama say he was going to crack down on corporations who got tax breaks for moving jobs overseas.
Don't you think this news is a bit ironic?
Posted by: politicalpartypooper at May 5, 2009 8:58 AM
rogect8 I agree. you can not call this "raising" taxes when it is simply forcing corporations pay ALL of their taxes.
