The Prius Myth
There's a myth, repeated today by George Will, that Toyota sells the Prius at a loss.
In reality, Toyota used to sell hybrids at a loss -- in 1997. The industry and consumer trends have changed considerably over the last 12 years, and Toyota started making a profit on each Prius sold way back in 2001.
Why do facts hate George Will?

To add to this, the article Bob has linked to above says that for the Prius to be truly profitable, it needs to sell 50K to 100K units annually. If you jump on over to BusinessWeek's site and read an article from May 15 of last year, David Welch had this to say:
"What’s more telling is that Prius sales in the U.S. are up 21% this year and were up 70% last year to 181,000 cars."
That is 181K units sold in the US alone in 2007.

And here I thought you'd gone crazy, Bob, and were calling the Prius a myth.
Cuz I've actually seen one, once.

Everyone knows facts have a liberal bias.

Bubba wants to know if the rice burners come in orange, with a Rebel Flag on top?
I needs me something to jump buses with.

George Will does not care about facts. He ignores facts and manufactures whatever illusions he needs to support his fixed, inflexible ideology. Like Limbaugh, he makes a great living pretending that right wing policies are good for everyone.
George Will - worthless propagandist.

There was a time when I respected Will, but lately, he's seriously gone off the deep end. It used to be that he merely had a point of view, but now it seems the dude just revels in falsehoods.
Oh, hey, little Bubsy.
Did you shoot many imaginary varmits with the imaginary gun you got yesterday?
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 10:55 AM
Golly gee, it's my old buddy Lexacon.
Hey, if I hooked one of those rice burners directly up to my uncle Jeds high wire electricity pole, do you think there'd be enough juice to clear 32 buses?
My cousin Delbert now holds the county record of 31 school buses, and I'd sure like to best him.
Posted by: Bubba at May 6, 2009 11:07 AM
Let me ask a question...
Is "Lexacon" supposed to be a pet name or are you simply misspelling a word in reference to my vernacular?
And are you brain-damaged? I'm not concerned about your living out your MTV Jackass fantasies. Not that I'd care if you actually hurt yourself.
Hell, matter of fact, get one of your friends to tape the dumb shit you plan on doing and post it here. I guess I am concerned after all.
Anyway, don't let it be said that I encourage idiocy. Let me say, you really need to quit letting moonshine influence your aspirations, you muttonbrain.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 11:21 AM
Well I'll be, I guess I'll go back to cookin' my Turtle soup.
Lexcon, anytime you need a vacation buddy, you come down and see us. Ya hear.
My Mama cooks up some pretty fine fat back, and afterward we can kick back, loosen our collars, and drink some good ol' fashion southern wisky. The fishin' is mighty fine too.
Posted by: Bubba at May 6, 2009 11:37 AM
What's with you always running off to do imaginary shit, man?
Why not stay here and imagine not only you outwitting Lexaburn, but my EVER setting foot on what is probably a decrepit hillbilly haven rife with communicable diseases that were supposedly eradicated a half century ago.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 11:47 AM
Lexcon, my Mama told me a long time ago, that it doesn't take much wit, to outwit, a halfwit.
She also told me, that if your gonna build a foundation for a structure, make sure it is built with rock, on the high ground, so that it is able to withstand the test of time.
You, my buddy, have no idea what that means.
The way I reckin' it, you must fear, and hate a simple man like myself. Otherwise, why not leave a silly dog to his own devices.
What I'm seein' on this site, and from yourself, is the shooting out of the floor in your slowly sinking ship. Lexcon sir, your foundation is built on Fear, Anger, and Arrogance that will never test the sands of time. Much like other factions in this country, it excludes the very folks it needs for survival. And, it's on display like a Banjo player at a Hoe Down.
In that sense Lexcon, your a halfwit. Cause' it won't matter much to me when I'm still down here sippin' wisky and shootin' Squirrels with my wrist rocket, and you're still suffering from constipation trying to plug the Levee with Half full sandbags.

Conservatives are deathly allergic to facts and truth. If they were to begin stating real facts, they would need an adrenaline shot right away.

Will repeats the "Prius at a loss" thing almost every week on national TV. And I don't think George S. or anyone else challenges him on it, or if they have I missed it.
Posted by: Elena at May 6, 2009 1:23 PM
Ok...
First off, I'm not sure your mammy isn't one of those varmits you imagine yourself shooting, so don't go doling out her supposedly sage wisdom to me. It seems to me that mammy may have been referring to the dull rock atop the foundation of your thick neck.
Second...what the fuck are you babbling about? Quit attempting to get smart people like me to decipher your podunk babble.
You sit here posturing like you're speaking in riddles. Your dumb is still dumb, 'nuff said.
What becomes clear is that you and dear mother were both crunked on some rotgut and Crazy Glue when you had the little chit-chat about "foundations" and whatnot. I'd ask what you are hopped up on now, but something tells me you'll deny the facts altogether, which will only highlight that you're naturally this idiotic. A pity that right there. I shed a tear for your stupidity.
Third and lastly, to even dignify a buffoon here playing like Larry The Cable Guy's even dumber nephew referring to me as a "halfwit" leaves me feeling the need for a quick shower. This is the extent of that segment of your retort will be referenced..
But, I suppose it all must be addressed at some point...
Lexaburn doesn't care what your reason for being here is. I don't care about your motivations for pretending to be a slack-jawed yokel with a bran' nu inner'et conneckshun. I told you yesterday that I'm here to mock you as long as you're here.
We're clear now, right? Need me to draw a picture for ya, "hick"?
Now...with all that hillbilly cooking you're supposedly indulging in, you are the one suffering from constipation.
The only time you EVER need to worry about my ass is before you kiss it, Bubsy.
Later, gator-baiter.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 1:47 PM
One more thing, Bubsy...
It would seem to me that you, Bubsy, are irritated by ANY individual that sees a bright future ahead for America now that a majority of the country is waking up to the fact that Republicons are of no importance to anyone other than those looking to point and laugh at ignoble pols struggling to be relevant.
Silly dogs need to be kicked every so often for fucking around in areas they don't belong in.
Skitter away now, pooch.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 1:59 PM
Lexcon, if you care to know, I have inbred hounds that learn quicker. I can't spell it out any clearer for ya, dumb fuck.
You still can't hide the Fear.
Yee Ha.
Posted by: Bubba at May 6, 2009 2:02 PM
I think Bubba might be a satirical poster a la Stephen Colbert.
Posted by: fe at May 6, 2009 2:06 PM
Bubsy, you ignoramus, you can't spell whatsoever.
The word is "lexicon," genius.
And stop confusing mirth with fear, dolt.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 2:11 PM
Lexaburn knows the game.
We're just having fun, ain't we, Bubsy?
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 2:13 PM
Bubba has said his peace. And, like I said, it eventually won't matter.
Bubble, Bubble, Bubble, down.
Posted by: Bubba at May 6, 2009 2:29 PM
It will ALWAYS matter, Bubsy.
What's "it" again? I forgot.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 3:08 PM
Oh, and it's said your 'PIECE," Bubsy.
Posted by: Lexaburn at May 6, 2009 10:26 PM
I caught that quote from Will this weekend flipping channels. Good catch on the BS.
Man, I used to enjoy reading his columns. Even though I disagreed with 90% of what he wrote, George Will would argue his points so well that I read them just to get pointers on how to debate.
Seriously, why doesn't anyone challenge him on this? Has anyone thought to write ABC or George Snufflupagus about what the facts are?
