Friendly Reminder

While I appreciate the input, I'm again a little disturbed by the email and FB messages from liberal friends about Scarborough's "even handed" appearance on Meet the Press today. Don't be fooled. Scarborough isn't your friend. He's a two-faced weasel. He makes overtures to liberals so he can get away with truly outrageous far-right remarks about abortion, torture, the economy, the Obama administration and so on.

Scarborough paints himself as a centrist -- Scarborough claims to despise name-calling and uncivil discourse. But this is the real Joe Scarborough:

And...

Scarborough is a Newt Gingrich Republican bully who's pretty good at deceiving people.

Spot on again Bob. I'd have said 'rabid two-faced weasel' but close enough.

My observation is that if he sound reasonable, look out because something particularly nasty is in the works.

Just like Pat Buchanan. MSNBC seems to like its scumbags masquerading as nice guys.

Posted by: Skippy at June 14, 2009 6:22 PM

Morning Joke is just trying out a little misdirection to divert attention away from the mounting evidence of his hackery.

HuffPo ran a frontpage story 2 days ago showing his hypocrisy. That must have been his queue.

Posted by: J M Goddamn Ashby at June 14, 2009 6:24 PM

Plus, he wants to sell crappy books.

Posted by: Paddy at June 14, 2009 6:37 PM

yes, I fell for it once. Never again.

Posted by: Allison at June 14, 2009 6:48 PM

See, here's the thing: Scumborough isn't very good at deceiving people. The people that are fooled are simply easily deceived is all.

His night time show never went anywhere, and his morning show was propped up with Mika's hypocritical Paris-bashing. There's nothing more to see there. The show would've been interesting if it weren't built around a person with the personality of an eel.

Posted by: Lexaburn at June 14, 2009 7:11 PM

eel. Great. I like that Lex.

I think this is the week the eel goes on his 'Evils of Socialized Medicine' tirade.

Expect the same BS we've been getting for a while:

You'll have to stand in lines.

HEALTH CARE RATIONING.

Government bureaucrats interfering with your doctor.

HEALTH CARE RATIONING.

Long waits for simple procedures.

Did I mention HEALTH CARE RATIONING?

Bob is absolutely correct!

Joe gives a very controlled message, but it is always with bit and representing conservative views.

Just because we see Joe S yucking it up with the
liberal guests....don't be fooled! He is very calculating
and savvy and always stays on message (which
is the right-wing conservative message)!

He is a wolf who appears on television besides some
sheep.....but, he's still a wolf!

Posted by: Terri at June 14, 2009 7:34 PM

Scarborough is a devious prick...it's that simple.

Posted by: Tim at June 14, 2009 7:43 PM

Bob,

Rest assured you will never hear me say Joe Scarborough is "even handed."

That would be exactly like saying Fox News is "Fair and Balanced."

Posted by: Wolfe Tone at June 14, 2009 7:43 PM

Scarborough is a devious prick...it's that simple.

Devious prick? I always thought he was a previous dick...

No reminder needed here!

Posted by: kansasdem at June 14, 2009 7:57 PM

So I shouldn't have invited him over to look at my collection of Obama magazine covers?

Sonofabitch...

Posted by: Redmond at June 14, 2009 8:20 PM

After fanning the flames of the Palin/Letterman controversy, he had the nerve to say that he felt that Palin made a mistake by responding to Letterman. He also said that the Republicans had made a mistake by calling Sotomayer a racist but he has spent huge amounts of airtime fanning those flames also.

He must have said three or four times that, "the Conservatives are angry at me for having this opinion" about this or that. Does he really think that we believe this crap?

Posted by: Elizabeth at June 14, 2009 8:46 PM

But but but I read in the New York Times that Joe is very even-handed and Mika is a liberal. Of course, that was in a letter to the editor from Mika.

Posted by: Marie at June 14, 2009 8:47 PM

Who are these liberal friends of yours? Are these the same fools who Joe claims show up at his book signings and just lovvvvvve him. The problem with Joe is, he has a split personality and is a huge hypocrite. You could see him one day and he could say something that sounds ALMOST rational, but you look through the footage and see that he said exactly the opposite the day (hours?) before, all calculated to sell that shitty book.

Posted by: Erin at June 14, 2009 8:50 PM

Joe's a great guy, I've got nothing against him.
Too bad he loves torture, defends physician murderers for political gain, favors transfer of wealth from poor to rich, willfully spouts lies about dhs reports, hides behind woman and kids when a big meanie blogger posts a truthful story about him.... I could go on and on...

see what I just did there? I did a scarborough. say something nice then bury the person. except I used facts. so maybe I didn't do it quite the same way that he does.

Posted by: mattpddm03 at June 14, 2009 8:59 PM

Bob's really fixated on Joe Scarborough.

I used to think that maybe Joe owed Bob a big pile of cash or something, but after that "Dick Pillars" post a few days ago, I begin to suspect that the phallic references explains Bob's obsession a bit more directly.

That's right! Bob knows as we all do that Jethro is just a really small DICK! Actually, what you should have watched was the look on his face on Friday when John Harwood disagreed with him about the whole Barney Frank walking off the set of Mark Haines' show on cnbc. Joe seemed find until Harwood said he disagreed with him. Then, Joe's eyes narrowed even more and he took on the look of a psycopathic killer and began spewing one of his condesending 3 minuate diatribes about how nasty Barney Frank could be. Well, he is somewhat an expert on the subject. I didn't even watch MTP today because I knew he'd be on pushing his pathetic #81 in sales on amazon.com bullshit book. Oh, and Mika is a tool or as I'm fond of calling her the "Star Search Spokesmodel. I can't stand this woman. She's the perfect co-host for him because she doesn't defend her own positions well. Here's a typical exchange. Mika: Well I think the Democrats raise a valid point. Joe: That is the stupidest thing you've ever said on this show. How can you defend..... Mika: Well, no, I think you raised a valid point as well Joe. I'm just saying.....She has no courage of her convictions until he gives them to her. Nothing but air between those ears.

Posted by: roxsteady at June 14, 2009 9:28 PM

I couldn't believe the irony of him trashing Barney Frank when he'd done the same thing when he walked off the set of Race for the Whitehouse. I couldn't believe that the idiot producer did whisper in Joe's ear that he should stay away from that one. Of course Media Matter was quick to point this out minutes after his sermon. I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow's show. I want to see if the Star Search Spokesmodel's "Must Read Opinion Pages" will contain Frank Rich's article from today's NY Times. Since wingers come off looking rather badly in it, I'm not sure if it's going to be mentioned at all. I'm also starting to wonder if MSNBC is getting complaints of the constant infomercial for Jethro's book. I've seen lots of complaints throughout the internets!

Posted by: roxsteady at June 14, 2009 9:36 PM

Atanarjuat,

You're NOT paying attention!

Of course I've read some of your other posts and you obviously NEVER pay attention!

Bob is about 5 degrees "right" of me! I'm more in the Chris Cooper / Kris Kristofferson - left of left or left of liberal category, but Bob's more progressive than I!

So naturally quite often both Bob and I find Mo Joe disgusting, and Bob writes about it! But the line was crossed when MoJoe tried to blackball Bob from Huffinton by crying to mommy!

Quite simply, some people have a pair and others just pretend to!

I suspect you're one of the latter!

Posted by: kansasdem at June 14, 2009 10:23 PM

Whoa! Now it all makes sense! I read doucheborough's column on Huffington Post back then. He then ranted on the air about the tone of the discourse. I think it's, well let me say, unmanly to have gone behind Bob's back to try and get rid of Bob. It was one of Bob's columns on the huffpost that caught my eye and made a true fan out of me. Anyway, I can see why Arianna refused. She's no fool. Bob's readers are substantial! It also makes sense now why Joe hasn't had another column. He can dish it out but can't take it. Scarborough is a man with "lady parts" if you get my drift!

Posted by: roxsteady at June 14, 2009 10:55 PM

Rox,

Bob has kept quite a close eye on Joe ever since then!

That's not obsession, that's not even pot calling kettle, that's showing who has a pair and who DOES NOT!

Obviously if Joe had a pair he'd have Bob on the show to debate their differences!

Posted by: kansasdem at June 14, 2009 11:51 PM

Over the years I've worked -- pretty much on the fringes -- in media, politics, and show biz.

Most of the time, it's as mindless as a cock fight. (Which is what it is, come to think of it.)

Those storied Thursday afternoon cocktails with Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill? A cock fight; convivial, good natured, and each guy sharpening his spurs for the next attack.

Certainly a lot of issues would be better if we all went Rodney King on each other and tried to get along, but the political/media cockfights are likely to stick around for awhile.

I give Scarborough a modicum of respect in that he actually gets into the pit sometimes. Not like Newtie or Rove or Cheney who sit on Sunday morning bobble head shows and recite their talking points with people who aren't listing to the answers; merely checking note cards for the next question.

But Joe's carrying more water than a two-humped camel.

Posted by: MonkeyHawk at June 15, 2009 12:05 AM

Joe "brewed by Starbuck's" Doucheborough is the largest vagina on the planet. Big enough to drive a M1A2 Abrams tank into, turn around, and drive back out.

His total disregard for law is disturbing. His inability to be truthful is disturbing. His inability to act with decency is disturbing.

Posted by: ∇•B=0  Goddamn Silly Ratfaced Git  ∇•D=ρ at June 15, 2009 2:28 AM

He tends to politically sandbag when it suits him. I have never taken him seriously.

Just remember to call him 'killer' to his face.

Posted by: orvis at June 15, 2009 3:51 AM

So Joe knows FOR A FACT that waterboarding works? According to Joe, "we have captured and killed so many people because of waterboarding."

Fuck you, Joe. He is making baseless assertions. I wish that someone would have called him out and asked for some evidence to support his claims. He is such a condescending prick.

If Joe knows so much about the effectiveness of waterboarding, why doesn't he just end the debate on this topic?! If he has access to special information that proves unequivocally that waterboarding works, then let's see it, asshole!
