hello and good evening

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 7:57 PM

Evening all.

Posted by: Skippy [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 7:59 PM

One of those Republicans with the oppression complex that Bob mentioned on his show is getting his ass handed to him on Twitter, deservedly and hilariously so.

Greetings Cescans. It's rainy in Tampa.

Posted by: SillyGit [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:08 PM

Hey all, we actually had a day without rain for a change.. but tomorrow is another day...lol

Posted by: Annette [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:13 PM

Wont be hearing from me much tonight, haven't been paying attention to the goings-on today. Been painting.

I will say though Jim Cramer = Jackass

Posted by: J M Ashby [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:15 PM

I couldn't believe that nonsense from that ass.. Between him and Bill Maher.. we have some good "Dems" speaking out don't we..

Posted by: Annette [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:18 PM

Hoekstra hecklers horking heavy hearted invective by tweeting tweets targeting the tenacious twatwaffle Hoekstra.

Posted by: SillyGit [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:18 PM

I'm surprised Cramer had the balls to show his face on TV again after Jon Stewart ripped him a new one.

Posted by: Skippy [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:20 PM

what did Cramer do? I missed it.

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:25 PM

Anyone listening to "Fresh Air" on NPR? There's a man talking about my favorite subject: conspiracy nuts!

Posted by: Matt Osborne [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:26 PM

He went on Morning Joke (of course) and said:

"Until we get the economy moving again, I think everybody wishes that Obama would just kind of go away for a little bit."

Maybe everybody wishes shitheads like Doucheborough and Cramer would just kind of go away... for forever

Posted by: J M Ashby [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:27 PM

Terri Gross can find some odd people to interview.
It comes on at noon here Matt, I was napping and missed it.

I have been worthless all day :)

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:28 PM

thanks Ashby

who knew there were so many dicks in the world with access to the airwaves?

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:30 PM

He said that most people wish President Obama would go away. Which is crap, and rich coming from an obnoxiously loud man who has been spectacularly wrong about a lot of things market-related.

Posted by: Skippy [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:31 PM

Ah - Ashby beat me to it!

Posted by: Skippy [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:32 PM

vera, I've been worthless since Sunday morning when I woke up with swollen nodes in my throat. Ugh.

Posted by: Matt Osborne [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:40 PM

ouch Matt--feel better
is that in addition to your back or is that better?

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:41 PM

and thanks skippy

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:42 PM

I would like to say that I am, in fact, made entirely of wood.

Posted by: ZIRGAR [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 8:50 PM

vera, back's better but throat's killing me.

EVERYONE should read this:

Matt,

I caught Chip Berlet on Fresh Air today. Terri Gross seemed kind of stunned by Teh Crazy™ out there.

Those of us who've been paying attention might be sickened, but we aren't surprised at all.

People like Beck, O'Reilly and Limbaugh should be held accountable.

Posted by: Wolfe_Tone [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:09 PM

Wolfe, my favorite moment was when Terri got exasperated at the interlocking Crazy™ of conspiracy theory: "There's too much," she said. "I can't keep up."

I think a friend of mine put it best when he said: "It's like the Lord of the Rings with these assholes. Listening to Alex Jones is like trying to read The Silmarillion, I can't fucking keep up!"

Posted by: Matt Osborne [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:13 PM

Is it me or does anyone find Terri Gross asks the stupidest questions sometimes, and then others asks the most excellent questions?

She was talking to Metallica or some other band members and asked them the most stupid questions. I felt so sorry for whoever it was. Then she interviewed Frank Schaffer (sp?) and was incredible.

You never know what you will get with her.

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:14 PM

glad the back is better Matt

zirgar---anything else you would like to share?

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:15 PM

Geez... Rachel just ripped Ensign and the GOP a new asshole. I walked in the door with my tacos just in time to see that haha.

Posted by: J M Ashby [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:22 PM

She isn't mentioning it but in the NY Times there was an article that said there was NO blackmail.. or at least there is no sign of it and no investigation.

There is also speculation that he had another affair in 2002, which was covered up and he took a leave and went home to tell his wife and fix it and then came back.

Posted by: Annette [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:26 PM

vera, see if you can find her interview with Gene Simmons.

It's the worst interview EVAH, and not because of her questions. Simmons is just that disgusting. It's like listening to a train wreck...

Posted by: Matt Osborne [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:32 PM

Another voice in the LGBT issue.. from Salon..

Obama hasn't left us

This is a really great article.

Posted by: Annette [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:36 PM

On the subject of crazy:

"Birth of an Obsession"

More than you ever wanted to know about Orly Taitz and the whole birther movement. Made me want to bang my head against a wall.

Posted by: alopecia [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 9:43 PM

but I love Gene Matt
I love watching "Family Jewels"

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:07 PM

She positively swooned while interviewing Davey Jones

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:10 PM

I'm just going to say this about W's speech today: that bunting looked effing stupid.

Posted by: El Mystico [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:20 PM

El Mysti -

They didn't want the bunting to clash with W.

Posted by: SillyGit [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:34 PM

Terri Gross is pretty hit and miss with musicians, I think.
David Dye, on the other hand, researches his stuff thoroughly before they show up, and asks damned good questions.

Posted by: Wolfe_Tone [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:46 PM

I liked what someone (Lisa Lampanelli?) once said about "Family Jewels."

"It's like 'The Osbornes,' but without the talented father."

Posted by: Wolfe_Tone [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:48 PM

I don't know David Dye wolfe.

And I do love me some Ozzy too.

Posted by: veralynn [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 10:52 PM

David Dye hosts "The World Cafe" on NPR.

Posted by: Wolfe_Tone [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 11:04 PM

Did anyone else read that "Ahmadinejad Won: Get Over It" article? It was full of scare quotes (aka print dick fingers) calling people "iran experts" and saying so what if Mousavi was ahead in the polls, polls in Iran are unreliable... except our unnamed poll that was totally reliable and that one had Ahmarockthevotenejad ahead.
So just heard on Rachel that a bunch of towns are reporting anything up to 140% turnout... so um. Yeah.

Posted by: El Mystico [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2009 11:23 PM

El Mystico: The Politico piece reads like one of the competing right-wing narratives, the one that says it's better to have Ahmadinejad in power because everyone knows he's nuts and Mousavi seems sane. (Danger, danger! Be afraid!)

(Having said that, I know nothing about the authors, who may very well be sincere and well-intentioned.)

However, the scare quotes would have resulted in a failing grade from my middle-school English teachers. ("That's not the way quotation marks are used.")

'Way off topic, but is anyone else running Safari 4 on a Mac? And if so, are you finding it as unstable as a two-legged barstool?
