Senator Ensign Loves Marriage
“Marriage is an extremely important institution in this country and protecting it is, in my mind, worth the extraordinary step of amending our constitution.”
“I believe that marriage should be defined as that between one man and one woman. You want to do what is ideal for children and all of the studies show that the ideal for children is to be in a household with a father and a mother....”
...And the staffer the father is banging on the side.
Yes, on Tuesday, Senator Ensign admitted to cheating on his wife with a staffer.

More to the point, he has repeatedly called for politicians (most notably Bill Clinton) to resign when their affairs came out. What's the over/under on whether he'll take his own advice?

I think in this case staffer is a verb. He certainly loved to staff 'er, I tells ya.

I love this...
"I'm just asking people to respect my privacy."
Yeah. Because your butting into everybody else's marraige is respecting THEIR privacy.
And then there's his stance on Larry Craig...
Elected in 2000 and reelected in 2006, Ensign has been a leading conservative among Senate Republicans, playing a key role in demanding the resignation of Larry Craig in September 2007. Ensign called Craig a "disgrace"...
I guess you're supposed to keep your extramarital affairs confined to other married women/close friends.
Clearly the reason Craig is "a disgrace" is the fact that his affair was with a man. No privacy granted there.

Good luck with that 2012 run, douchebag.

I think we can now take it as read that:
Anti-gay Republicans are so far back in the closet they can see Narnia.
Anti-gay marriage Republicans are Scooby Doo villains: marriage would be awesome if it weren't for those meddling vows.

Low. Like 1%. And you'd still be a fool not to take the under.

From Huffpo:
Ensign's stance at the time of Craig's wide stance issue:
"I wouldn't put myself hopefully in that kind of position, but if I was in a position like that, that's what I would do," Ensign said.
Speaking of resignation.
Well, he, his family and the staffer's family have been working on this since last year...so, where is the resignation?
My question is this, when will our country get out of junior high on the whole issue of human sexuality?

I think I know how he got the staffer to have sex with him.....He raped her with his mouth! This is off topic but, have any of you seen the video on the huffington post from yesterday's "protest" outside of David Letterman's studio? One of the lunatic women in the crowd kept screaming that "David Letterman Will Rape You With His Mouth! The funny thing was that her mouth was HUGE and she kinda looked like a man but, the best part of the video is towards the end. While she was screaming this nonsense at the top of her lungs, there were 2 guys stanidng behind her who were from the Howard Stern Show kissing each other. Actually they were just faking but, it's hysterical! I'm crying right now from laughing so hard I can barely read what I'm typing. I think I'll go back for a second look! You guys have to check it out!

He's said he won't resign. As is often the case, those who decry infidelity the loudest usually have a guilty conscience.

Actually, I heard he was cheating with the WIFE of his staffer. BADA-BING!

Rox...you're off by a thread. Bob put a link to the video in the Palin's People post. And it was glorious.

By the way, there's so much material in the video that I couldn't keep up. There are several other things you'll hear these idiots saying.
One woman said that Letterman should be ashamed of himself because he had a DAUGHTER out of wedlock himself. Letterman's son's name is HARRY!
One guy said that Dave was a poy voit! Obviously he meant pervert but, couldn't even pronunce it.
And the old bitch in the yellow jacket and black sunglasses actually called Letterman's wife a slut!
And finally, maybe the funniest of all was a woman who said that Palin's 14 year old daughter was sitting there on the sidelines watching an AMERICAN BASKETBALL GAMME When Letterman attacked her.
Um, there are no basketball games played at YANKEE STADIUM and Alex Rodriguez is a BASEBALL PLAYER.
Seriously ignorant asshat morons!

Hey El Mystico! Don't you get sassy with me or I'll rape you with my mouth! But seriously, I'm always late to the party. I usually read the headlines of each posting but, I somehow missed this yesterday. As for Ensign, what a douchebag. It just shows you how sleazly Republicans are. The fact that his mistress's husband would attempt to extort money from him? Since both the guy and his wife worked for Ensign I assume the guy is also a Republican. I guess it's like they say. There's no honor among thievs!

Hey, I just checked and I did post on Bob's previous blog about this. I must be getting senile. Anyway, I'm waiting for the GOP to come out and weigh in on this dick since they seemed really interested in Bill Clintons' blow jobs! I won't hold my breath!

Ensign also said Bill Clinton's affair was an embarassment.
The hypocrisy is strong in this one.

So, he's flying back to NV and missing a Senate vote regarding NV. Other than tourism, not a whole lot to recommend Nevada; way to think of your constituants, Ensign. Aaanndd, who is paying for his flight back home to have the news conference? I hope it's coming out of his pocket.

This may work out well for his three children. They now have a large dose of Republican hypocrisy and can move rapidly to the left.

Ed had Medved on his show last night, and he pointed out that a lot of democracts have affairs too. Hes right about that, but the democractic party is not billed as the family values party. Until the GOP drops the family values social conservative nonsense, they will appear hypocritical.

Alright this is apropos of nothing, but since this post is about Republican brand Stupid™... I just saw this on Nico Pitney's HuffPo Iran post...
2:07 PM ET -- Hoekstra's tweet. The mockery of Rep. Pete Hoekstra's recent tweet -- "Iranian twitter activity similar to what we did in House last year when Republicans were shut down in the House" -- is totally hilarious.
But there's more, this from Texas Republican Rep. John Culberson. These people are truly delusional:
Good to see Iranian people move mountains w social media, shining sunlight on their repressive govt - Texans support their bid for freedom
Oppressed minorities includeHouseRepubs: We are using social media to expose repression such as last night's D clampdown shutting off amends
Yes. Your twittering about being sad at the loserific state of your party is totally the same as what's going on in Iran. Hey, have any of you been arrested or killed and your bodies secretly buried by militias for disagreeing with the Democrats? No? Then shut the fuck up.
Also... Staffer? I barely even know 'er!
