Worst Persons

The mafia dons who run the major health insurance companies.

Good lord. Today they point-blank admitted to Congress their intention to continue the practice of randomly cancelling policies as soon as customers get sick. Also known as "recission."

What utter bastards. Health insurance is such an incredible con - you may as well be putting your money into a Madoff-like Ponzi scheme.

Something else I just saw that I posted to FB..

Yes, former Senator Tom Daschle is for removing the public option. So, what does he want? A watered down version and thrown to the states.

OBAMA, YOU BETTER NOT LISTEN TO THIS.

In an attempt at bipartisanship, three former majority leaders of the U.S. Senate, Tom Daschle, Howard Baker, and Bob Dole, offered their solution today to the biggest obstacle to achieving health care reform -- a public option.

Yeah, this is what we are fighting you all.. I am so glad he didn't get put in as HHS secretary now. But man we have to keep calling Congress and the White House.. We can't let them win on this..

I try not to be a cynic. Really, I do. But this is wearing me down.

If the medical-insurance system isn't radically overhauled, and soon, the number of preventable deaths in this country will skyrocket. Single-payer is the only option that really makes sense, even if it means huge money going to (gasp!) the gummint.

Simply forcing people to buy (or, more accurately, try to buy) private insurance won't work—Mitt Romney tried that and the system cratered—but that's about all that will be accomplished this time out. It may do just enough to push the problem back a couple of years, which is all that matters to the folks in Congress.

I'm beginning to think that the only way real change will happen is for the entire healthcare system to collapse. Then no one will be able to claim the problem isn't so bad.

See what I mean about being a cynic?

That's why I think it is important to let your voice be heard. Sign petitions, call your Congress person, Senators, Representatives, whoever, but let your voice be heard. Call the White House even..

That's the only way we can get this done. We have to make sure we stand up and get counted and be loud. It's ok to be a cynic, but unless and until we are loud about it, we aren't going to get what we want.

Quote of the Day nominee: "We regret the necessity."

CEO Don Hamm of Assurant Health, asked whether mortality entered into his mind when considering the need for rescission.

Word of the Day Nominee: "Rescission."

Nah, forget the public option, force everyone to buy private insurance. It'll be like being forced to buy a Ford Pinto... sure it might get you where you're going, or it might blow up in your face at the slightest provocation.
