Democrats vs. Crazy People

This from Oliver Willis absolutely nails the difference between the parties:

If you’ve ever taken the time to watch congressional activity on C-SPAN, particularly in the House, you see this a lot. There are people, Democrats, talking about important things of serious significance. I don’t even necessarily agree with these people all the time, but there’s no disputing the fact that they’re talking about an issue, and then a conservative Republican will get his or her turn at the microphone and begin a conversation about how Barack Obama has enlisted a legion of robots to drain us of our blood.

Last night on Hardball, Chris Matthews revisited that "end-of-life" provision in the Tri-Committee healthcare bill. His two guests? The very logical and reasonable Democratic congressman who authored the provision and... radio wingnut Lars Larson.

Naturally, the congressman underscored how the program would be totally voluntary and strictly between patients and their doctors -- and how the government would merely cover the tab. Lars Larson, when told about the voluntary aspect of it, looked briefly confused then basically said (paraphrasing), "Homminah homminah homminah -- well, eerrrrrrmmmmm, I don't know about that, Chris." Of course you don't, Lars. You live in a fantasy world of crazy.
