Paging Lars Ulrich
This reminds me of Metallica's spastic and ultimately self-defeating crusade against Napster:
Ratcheting up her offensive against the news media, Gov. Sarah Palin’s attorney threatened Saturday to sue mainstream news organizations if they publish “defamatory” stories relating to whether Palin is under federal investigation. In an extraordinary four-page letter, Alaska-based attorney Thomas Van Flein warns of severe consequences should speculation that until now has largely been confined to blogs about whether Palin embezzled funds in the construction of a Wasilla, Alaska, sports arena find its way into print.
“This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law,” Van Flein warned, citing Alaska liberal blogger Shannyn Moore.
Of course this adds fuels the embezzlement fire. She's smart!
And wow. She's also a serious pissy pants.

Sarah Palin's political career might not have crashed and burned if she'd learned to say two words: "No comment."

From what I understand, the criticism and questions surrounding Palin's home has been ongoing for quite some time already, and it certainly hasn't been confined to this one woman's blog. This is simply a news story. It has nothing to do with defamatory language.
As a public figure, Palin would have to prove "actual malice". Good luck with that, you Bonehead!
And yet, spurious as the defamation claim may be, 95% of mainstream news outlets are going to avoid this topic like the plague.

Shannyn Moore simply reported that there were rumors of Palin giving a contract to a company that built her house at a cut rate price. Ms. Moore did not accuse Palin of anything.
If Palin thinks that the blogosphere is mean, she hasn't seen anything yet. She best not go after Ms. Moore.

What ridiculously stupid lawyer would think that this could hold up in court? Talk about frivolous lawsuits, such as also.

Bob, if you haven't seen it yet, Halperin has his take. 9 Pieces of "Analysis" About Sarah Palin's Decision That Are Flat-Out Totally Wrong The funniest thing is that his "9 pieces" basically run the gamut of analysis. In other words, everyone is wrong. Douche.

Sarah Gump has been palling around with idiots, criminals and other "real Americans".

And all of this will help her political aspirations...how, exactly? Her attorney can threaten all he wants to, but it's VERY difficult to prove intent in a defamation case when your client is a public figure.
Also, let me just go ahead and say that having her on this kind of crusade does NOTHING for women's rights, and why some women persist with this line of thinking is beyond me. If anything, it has the potential to be damaging.

What's the difference between a lipstick-wearing soccer mom and a pitbill?
Pitbulls don't quit.

She ran Wasilla like it was the Jersey Mob. She wanted power, but hates the ethics and the scrutiny.
Seriously, fnck her.

Teh Palinator™ is pissy that Shannyn uses her actual name and doesn't fit into Sarah's favorite category the infamous "Anonymous Pajama Wearing Blogger." Little does she know how little Shannyn does fit into that category. I have it from good sources that not only is Shannyn not anonymous but she does not wear pajamas while blogging either. In fact, like myself, she chooses to blog au natural. Shannyn is her own category of blogger (just to piss Sarah off mind you) "The well known nekkid blogger."
How this fuckwit playing at attorney ever passed a bar exam is beyond me. Shannyn has done absolutely nothing that is actionable. This posturing is not only risible, it is outright ludicrous. Teh Palinator™ leads her Grand Parade of Useless Fuckwits.

And to think... if McCain had won and then croaked, Palin would have had her finger on the big red button. A woman who threatens to sue bloggers, quits her post, has multiple chips on her shoulder, and is dumber than a bag of hammers.

I think you all are completely missing the point of this. It isn't for intelligent rational people, it's for her fans. "See, Sarah's fighting those crazy liberals at HuffPo, MSNBC, NYT and WashPo! She had to quit so she could fight the good fight!"

John Cole at Balloon Juice summed it up nicely:
If politicians start suing for erroneous claims and winning, Mr. Barack “birth certificate not a real american pals around with terrorists” Obama might just win the lottery

If she's as out of politics as she says she is, this, to me, means one thing:
Look out, Joe Scarborough - there's a new morally-bankrupt failed politician on the airwaves!
