Congressman Weiner Nails Scarborough
This is really something to behold. The stunned silence from Scarborough when the congressman asks him, "What is the [health insurance industry's] value? What do they bring to the deal?" See timecode 5:20. And then watch as Scarborough attempts to explain away his stupification.
Part 2 after the jump...

Weiner is my new hero. He rendered Joe Blow speechless.
It was a sight to behold.
And, much as I can't stand old Joey, he did invite him back to the show on Thurday.

Two days to get his marching orders from his owners? It'll be just like VP debate prep!

Good grief, it's about time. I've been waiting for a thread on this particular event since this morning. Scarborough was dumbfounded and rendered speechless -- on his own show. Fuckin' fantastic!

Yes! I've been bugging Bob all morning to post this cip! It was great to see that idiot at a loss for words! He's such an asshole! I posted earlier that it was so good, I needed a cigarette after it was over! Did you see how Mika seemed stunned? I think she could learn a thing or 2 from Anthony. Don't let Jethro push you around. I can't stand her because she's such a moron. He basically shouts over her and you can tell when she's beaten down when she says "You make a good point" Ugh! Just once I'd like her to say, "You're allowed your opinion, no matter how stupid it is" His head would probably explode!

I just sent the congressman thanking him and praising him for his appearance. I live a few districts over from him and feel like I need to drive over to his office and shake his hand!

I've been hoping you would put this up.
I love how Joe falls back on silly red scare tactics when he can't answer a simple question.

right, as soon as it got hot, Joe pretended to be flabbergasted that someone could suggest that those for-profit fiends in the insurance industry serve no useful purpose. This interview almost makes up for the serious lack of leadership in the WH.

I posted the congressman's contact info yesterday.
Go thank him!

Joe's ideological slip is showing. He can't, even for a moment, embrace, or even conceive of, the idea that health care should not be a for-profit endeavor. Prior to thirty or forty years ago, it wasn't. He's a graduate of the Reagan School of Brainwashing and believes that not allowing profit in health care is somehow counter to "American principles."
Weiner said two very awesome things. The first was his question "what value do they bring." The second was, paraphrasing, "I'm not here to advocate for the insurance industry, I'm here to advocate for the American people."
Joe was completely outmatched. Completely.

Ok. I'm on board for single payer. Mandates without a public option is complete bullshit. Mandates with a public option is a bit better, I guess.
Someone educate me. How will mandates be enforced? When you're pulled over by the cops, they check your car insurance, so that's easy. What happens if someone shirks their mandated duty to buy insurance, and then gets whacked by cancer or a bus or whatever? Are we then just playing the "treat the uninsured and have everyone else pay for it" game again?

I think the key here is not who the Congressman took down (I actually thought ol' Joe was less insane than usual, BTW) but that he took control of the discussion and retained it throughout!
Regardless of what majorities and mandates they have, the Dems nearly always allow the Rethugs to control the narrative?
Nice to see a refreshing change from Weiner (which is what I always liked about Howard Dean too).

Exactly, fork. He made the necessary points, then supported them, then kept asking Joe to refute them. He maintained control of the conversation.

I ♥ Anthony Weiner!!!
What an AMAZING thing to behold.
Knew Schmo would try to turn it around after he finally picked his jaw off the floor.
Paraphrase after Schmo gets Tony-smacked: "Hate to see you playing into the hands of the protestors."
WTF!!!
Idiot. Schmo is such a JERK!!!
And then, of course, Schmo tries to muddy the waters. "We need free trade, etc."
YES! But we don't NEED insurance companies.
What a debate WIN for Anthony.

I've been keeping an eye on Weiner for a minute now. He was one of the many Clintonistas fighting Obama tooth and nail (sometime playing dirty pool and such), so I always took him with a grain of salt, really. Then he drops out of the NY Mayoral bid, making it seem as if he's scared of Mike Luthor...I mean Bloomberg (I kid, I'm not too upset with Bloomberg, actually).
My goodness, was that a good, old-fashioned schooling right there. The way he steered the argument right back on course when Joe began using Republicon tactic of changing subjects. And the highlight of leaving the windbag buffoon speechless...MAGNI-figgin-FIQUE!
Ooh, so many highlights, like how Mika shut the fuck up and whatnot save for meager utterances...
Shit, Weiner's on a mission.
I have to say it, though - Tony's last name...Sheesh!
Good thing we're all mature and whatnot, right?

In my fantasy-land version of America, the president would be as forceful and convincing as Weiner on this issue. If every democrat was out there challening Americans to answer that SIMPLE question--what good do private insurance companies bring to the table?--the whole nature of the debate would be changed.

What's with the fucking camera? Who produces this show? I don't need to feel seasick in addition to wanting to vomit every time Scarborough opens his gob.
