Stupid Max and his Stupid Plan
(That's the title of the movie I'd love to make about this whole thing.)
Anyway, the Baucus Plan has arrived and, as predicted, it's terrible. So terrible in fact that he's basically lost all Republican support and possibly up to half of the Democrats on the Finance Committee.
Actually, you could say that the plan is bipartisan -- insofar as members of both parties hate it.
Download the summary here. Yeah, the PDF crashed my browser twice. Damn you, Baucus!

This was probably the most insurance/republican friendly bill out there and still no repube will co sign.
A bill with a public option is now almost certain.

I'm glad he's getting publically flogged for this travesty. I'm going to enjoy this public ass kicking he's got coming. I can't wait to see liberals and progressives all over the tv machine trashing this junk. It's going to be fun and a nice payback for his duplicity!

I believe the progressive trashing started last night - I forget which, show - either Keith or Rachel, but Rep. Weiner said that if the Baucus Bill was the one that got enacted we'd be worse off than we are now.
That's saying something. What worries me is what is it going to take to get it out of committee, so it can die it's rightful death out in the open.

Baucus is laughing all the way to the bank with the blood money handed to him.

H.R. 676 - the United States National Health Insurance bill that is far better than Medicare, Medicaid and the vast majority of private health insurance policies. H.R. 676 fully covers everthing currently covered by Medicare and Medicaid PLUS all dental (except cosmetic), all optical and hearing services and hearing aids -- with no out-of-pocket charges to the insured (that's us, folks). The Private Profit Option cannot compete with H.R. 676
