Betsy McCaughey Makes Ass of Self. Again.
This was very entertaining. Anthony Weiner and Dylan Ratigan running circles around anti-reform liar Betsy McCaughey:
She makes it so easy.
Adding... Jamison Foser makes a good point: why is McCaughey on television in the first place? While it's frustrating that cable news continues to elevate wingnuts and crazies, there's actually an upside to bringing in people like McCaughey. I'll explain. In the case of this Ratigan segment, he's doing the opposite of what Fox News does all the time. Fox News claims "balance" by including occasional liberals. Weak, barely articulate, outnumbered liberals who are way out of their depth. So the debate is automatically stacked in favor of the conservatives, while Fox News can claim "balance" in a very superficial way. Ratigan, today, lined up a strong liberal against a weak wingnut, and Ratigan is clearly more sympathetic to Weiner's position on healthcare. That meant two pro-reform voices against one weak anti-reform voice. It's a start.

Welcome to school.
Pay more attention next time!

One thing to add here, Bob.
Sure, its great when liberals smack down mimes but we need to get away from the "smack down the weak guy" methods of the media.
This clip makes little headway in terms of actually showing the dishonesty of the Republians simply because of the forgetability of the clip. Most people don't even know who that woman is.
Let's get someone like Karl Rove or Sean Hannity taken to task.

@Koeber:

Good point. But Hannity, for one, would never put himself in that position. He's a faker and he wouldn't allow himself to be caught in this kind of situation.
So I'll take McCaughey for now.

While I, too, would like to see some first-string Republicans taken down like that, I must say this.

McCaughey reminds me of Noonan, seemingly so sincere and well-informed and totally disingenuous. I loved the Ratigan comment, "How do you get rid of the Corporate Communism that is destroying our country right now?"
And why don't more MSM hosts point out that tort reform is less than 1% of costs....And Weiner is a brilliant man....the way he makes it non-personal by saying..."you don't have to rely on Dylan....the CBO".....he should be the voice of reform in Congress

Great point about how Fox News operates.
I was having a similar discussion with a conservative friend of mine the other day - "Think about it...you see Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich on TV all the time, but do you ever see the likes of Paul Krugman or anybody like him?" (No offense to any Sharpton/Kucinich fans, but you know what I mean).
I've also noticed that they frequently invite on liberals with RADICAL views, like the guy Hannity & Colmes brought on their show to explain why he'd say on his website that any American soldier that died in Iraq had gotten what they had coming to them.
By having these types of people on, they are able to reinforce to their already-biased audience that liberals are dumb/clueless, and conservatives have all the answers.
Hannity has even gone so far as to do a segment where he dedicates a phone line specifically for people to call in and tell him how much they hate him. Then he plays the most angry, ranting, profanity-ridden calls he can find...while he sits there and smirks at how over-the-top they are. Translation: It makes liberals angry to hear the truth.
