Hillbilly Politics

See, normally when a politician runs for president, they begin by spreading good will in Iowa. They deliver speeches to whatever group of yokels will take them. They attend small gatherings and picnics. They basically whore themselves all across the state for no other reason than to eat corn on the cob and to prove that they're serious about Iowa.

But not Sarah Palin. She demanding $100,000 to speak at an Iowa Family Policy Center event and, naturally, party leaders there are "wincing":

But representatives from other Iowa-based political advocacy groups said they would never consider shelling out money for what many politicians see as a privilege: the opportunity to speak to a room full of sure-fire caucus-goers who often serve as precinct captains and can be instrumental to a presidential candidate’s success.

It's not that she doesn't get it. She's just greedy. She's acting like a has-been reality show contestant. To wit, John Cole has the blogotube quote of the day: "This isn’t a credible politician. It’s a Jerry Springer episode."

She thinks all those wingnuts who were cheering her on would pay to see her.

She is wrong.

Tomorrow her spokes puppet will announce that Palin never asked for any money.

I don't think she has any intention of running for president. Her master plan, apparently, is to skip right over all of that 'serving-in-office' claptrap, and get right to the post-term goodies.

Eric is right. Despite all of the media obsessing over a 2012 run, Palin has no real desire to be president. She's lazy and it's just too much work. No, what she wants to be is a political celebrity: someone who travels all over the place giving speeches for big bucks, with the occasional ghostwritten book and op-ed thrown in.

Some people have suggested that she wants a talk-radio or Fox News gig. I doubt that, because she doesn't have the work ethic to show up at a studio every day. In any case, her word-salad speaking style couldn't possibly carry a daily (or even weekly) show.

She's a whore. Soaking it for all its worth. She wants the money. Thats why she quit her governorship. She thought she could make a lot of money on the lecture circuit. Theres no other way to look at it.

We know what she is...now we know how much. Yes, I beleive the word is whore! Apparently though, she's asking way too much for the merchandise. What the should do is replace her with Bachmann. That would really piss her off!

As a hillbilly I resent your remarks comparing this terribly twisted trollop to me and my kinfolk. We at least keep out of other people's bidness and stick to our hills and hollers and such.

lol Zirgar.

Now her staff says she never asked for money and that she might not even go to iowa anyway.

Train wreck trollop.

It's more like the Beverly Hillbillies, if all of its characters were dislikeable and had more obnoxious accents.

Prostitutes do it for money; I think whores are free.

She'd better prostitute herself as much as possible before Levi tells his big secrets on her. You know he can't keep his mouth shut. After Palin's record on truth-telling, people tend to find Levi more credible. Her star is fading. Wonder if Oprah will do a Katie Couric on her.
