Yup, He's the Antichrist

Posted by Redmond

While Elvis and I are discussing how Obama's Nobel Peace Prize is exactly what he needed right now (That was snark, folks.), here's Frank Schaeffer on the predictable responses that will follow:

The Religious Right will take this is further proof that Obama is the Antichrist.
The neoconservatives will trumpet this as the ultimate evidence of Obama being a socialist, embraced by notoriously socialist Sweden.
The "Birthers" will find evidence that Obama is indeed not an American since isn't it more likely that those Communists in Europe would give the Nobel Peace Prize to a Kenyan?
The "Deathers" already know that in Sweden socialized medicine kills one out of every two patients and forces 99% of women to have abortions, so this will just prove that a similar fate awaits all Americans.

I've been a fan of Frank Schaeffer and his book Crazy for God for a while and even moreso after he stopped by Rachel Maddow last month to discuss the aforementioned wingnuts who literally believe Barack Obama is the biblical Antichrist. Frank laid down the most cutting assessment of where these people should lie in the political process: "A village cannot reorganize village life to suit the village idiot."

Of course, try telling that to our very serious media who treats these loonies as if they have a valid argument. "You think Obama is a mythological harbinger of doom? Awesome. Let's get you on a healthcare panel and bump this doctor with his all lame experience and facts."

The Mainstream Media: Why inform the populace when we can turn policy debates into motherfuckin' Wife Swap?

I remember hearing that Village Idiot quote on the podcast and just loving it. He nailed it. I also loved the way she just let him loose without much interruption.

The local news channel I watch here in Va Beach lead with "President Obama awarded the Nobel Peace Prize .... But does he deserve it?" The actual story the ran didn't cover the statement by the committee nor the President's words about being humbled and seeing the award as a call to action but it, of course, did have all the negativity. It's shocking (OK, not really anymore) how the only things that get aired are the salacious, "OMG conflict" stories.

Did you catch gregory on with Stewart last night? It was clear to me that Jon was off his game due to being under the weather. He let the douche say journalists have a responsibility to find the truth without hammering for not doing so. He also let gregory get away with acting like he and the rest of the MSM insiders were not complicit in making crazy claims and theories part of the "legitimate news.

Wait, Obama's not the Antichrist? Man, that's the reason I voted for him. What a letdown.

When the day arrives that someone can't right a blog post accurately predicting the talking points of all sides in reaction to X (as Frank Schaeffer has brilliantly done here) will be the day I know that we've finally arrived at our true potential. Also, it will probably be the Seventh Sign.

@brutlyhonest: I saw that and thought the same thing. I was actually screaming at the TV.
