You know who else loves dogs, Bob? Obama. Just goes to show how deep in the tank you are for His Highness. What's next, Bob? Are you going to adopt a Portuguese Water Dog?

I kind of dislike dogs. Neverheless, there is something about them that reminds a returning vet of HOME, of normal, of neighborhood and community. Of course, in Africa, dog might mean a tasty meal, but here in the goold old US of A, dog means home.

hey Will---thanks for linking your blog here. I found it very informative. I especially like the "Our Godless Constitution". I hadn't read anything better on that subject. I posted it to FB so I will always have it.
Thanks

You don't like dogs, PPP?
It's worse than we all thought.

Norman - I think he doesn't like them because of their breed affiliation. Now, if they were all mutts...

You know who probably hates dogs? Lou Dobbs...which is fine since his racist, fearmongering lard-ass has quit CNN effective today! ahh I love the smell of victory!

I love dogs. I love all animals, except for the dumb delicious ones, obviously. Although, I have no sympathy for the Matador who gets mauled by the bull with spears sticking out of it in the arena of man vs. beast.
Go Bull!
But with dogs, I have a real soft spot for the human/canine relationship. Because it's a special bond that as some mythology explains(not sure which one):
When the species of Earth were deciding their fate as co-inhabitants, a giant crack began to split the living world between animals and humans, and at the last second, as Earth was rapidly splitting, humans on one side animals on the other, the dog jumped over to be with the humans.
When I saw those dogs on the rooftops during Katrina, It made a sad situation considerably more sad for me.
These videos are awesome, Bob.
Thank you.

Growing up, we were actively discouraged from thinking of the dogs we had as pets. They were there to hunt and work - if they didn't do their jobs well, they went away.
Eight years ago, someone asked my wife to watch the puppy he had bought his kid - he had done no research into the breed and was not prepared to give it the attention it required. This was late September 2001 and she said yes because I was at work most of the time helping plan our sojourn into Afghanistan (lots of the recommended CoA was rejected by rummy and company because they wanted the assets for somewhere else - but that's another post for another topic). Anyway, we never gave her back and I have been ruined by a schipperke, She stole my heart and took much of my hard earned hard edge.
The first time my wife dropped me off at the airport to fly out for my year-long deployment, the dog didn't understand at first. Then when it hit her, she started literally screaming at me - her bark changed to a frantic, high pitched yelp. It was harder leaving her than it was my wife (who didn't like it but understood). When I came home, she nearly turned herself inside out jumping around. Even though I've since retired and spend lots of time with her, my dog still gets concerned when the family is not all together.
I, too, like all animals. But dogs are special; it's rather cruel they have such relatively short life spans.
