That Party Crasher Couple
I get it. The party crasher couple is good news for the Republicans because it shows the Obama administration is weak on -- I don't know -- middle-aged socialite reality show people (aka. "terrorists") who sneak into State Dinners? Now, I could understand the outrage and concern-trolling if they had been driving a 747 loaded with civilians, dirty bombs and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed's stretched out t-shirt collection. But they weren't.
So, once again, I believe it's our duty to remind the short-attention span cable news people -- not to mention the Republicans -- about recent history.
Let us rewind the Way Back Machine to the olden days of yesteryear. Cue sepia toned footage of events that happened prior to January, 2009.
Remember when the Bush administration allowed a male prostitute from a fake newspaper into the White House press room in order to ask the president softball questions? Or when a guy managed to hurl not one, but two shoes at President Bush's melon during a so-called "secured" event, and the Secret Service did nothing to protect the president when the shoes began to fly?
Just thought I'd mention.

Oh, now you're just Bush-bashing again. Bob, don't you realize that history began on January 20th, 2009?

Sorry, this is a little bit of a big deal for me.
1. The media is looking at this and going "oh, isn't that cute! they got past Secret Service, let's see who they met."
2. The couple is now asking for hundreds of thousands of dollars to tell their story. Yes, let's get them on tv to tell the world how they got past Secret Service.

I forgot about the shoes Bob! And you're right, the Secret Service didn't budge until that second shoe had been thrown. These 2 douchebags should be arrested. I don't think Bravo should reward these 2. Maybe Rahm should contact NBC who owns Bravo and tell them if they'd like a real exclusive with the President...no Charlie Gibson, no Bob Schiefer, just Brian Williams. In exchange, those 2 dolts will not be part of the show. Some real hardball. Or maybe these 2 asswipes will be in jail during the shows taping. My sister pointed out that since these 2 are basically in debt and strapped for cash, they don't really meet the standards of the wealthy. They really are a fraud.

Yeah they will make it sound like Obama himself is responsible for his own security and if he can't keep himself safe, how is he going to keep us safe? GADZOOKS!
I'm already reading that there have been issues with the Secret Service ever since they were placed under the jurisdiction of Homeland Security.
And as for their concern about housing the GITMO detainees at Supermax? They have only themselves to blame for any lapses in security. From the Denver Westword, October 30, 2006:
"The cuts may have contributed to two inmate homicides last year, the first such deaths in ADX's history. And they've led to declining searches and made it easy for prison gang leaders and terrorists to send coded (or simply untranslated) messages to miscreants in the outside world. Yet the Bush administration has denied several BOP requests for additional security funding since the 9-11 attacks, even though more and more terrorists are being housed there.
They had opportunity after opportunity to "make America safe" and in every instance chose budget cuts over safety.

What sort of crime did they commit, exactly?

I guess the crime is trespassing. Except for the one detail is the SECRET SERVICE LET THEM IN.
They've had their fifteen minutes of fame, now they need to just go away.

I was recently involved in an episode shooting of Real Housewives of NJ, through my business. No matter how crazy you think this stuff is from the outside looking in, it is even more bizarre from the inside. The lengths that any of these people go to take advantage of their 15 minutes of fame borders on psychotic. They constantly jockey to have the best story and to take as much face time away from the other housewives, not to say that most of them are really struggling financially while Bravo makes it seem that the are wiping their asses with money. It is 100% ALL BULLSHIT, and the people on these shows all deserve to be institutionalized and put in rubber rooms.

Yes, but why did the Secret Service let them in? Did they forge an invitation? Is lying to a federal officer an offense? I haven't seen the possible specific charges and only came across this:
Secret Service spokesman Jim Mackin says the agency is moving closer to beginning a criminal investigation. He says that's one reason the Secret Service hasn't yet explained what happened when Michaele and Tareq Salahi arrived at the security checkpoint Tuesday for the dinner...

Invitations did not have to be shown and the social office at the WH was not there with a clipboard checking off guest list names as the people walked in, which is normally the procedure.
And I guess when they drove their car in they were not allowed in so they parked the car and walked up to the line formed outside and got in.
I'd say the social office is as much to blame as the SS.

I read, on TPM I think, that she is claiming to be a former Redskins cheerleader. The Redskins cheerleaders say she crashed their get togethers too, but no one can remember her being a cheerleader. Do reality stars get punished if they lie about their history?
and I am too lazy to look up the link and post it.

I'm wondering when Tweety will do the interview.
I'd say tomorrow at 5:01pm EDT, but he'd have to pay for it.

As far as I know, they didn't trespass & it's not a jailing offense.
The Secret Service needs to figure out how to prevent this from happening again & everyone else needs to move on, IMO.

Chris, what I read was:
'a former government official told CNN that they could be in trouble: "If you lie to a federal official, either secret service or the social secretary, if they lied their way to get in, and it seems they would have had to have done that, that's a federal felony." '
Via TPM, somehow.
Just saying, there may be a crime there after all.

from what I read tho, they weren't asked for credentials (or whatever they're called) at the checkpoints, so I'm thinking they didn't lie to anyone. Of course, the reports I heard could be wrong & frankly I'm not interested enough to check for more info, so...
