Good News on Mental Health
This was passed as part of the first bailout in October, 2008:
The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 interim rules were issued by the Obama administration and showcased today on January 29, 2010.The law is officially known as the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. The law essentially requires employer-sponsored health plans to provide coverage for addiction and mental illness on a level consistent with other health problems.
Very good news for people suffering from these stigmatized and misunderstood illnesses.
(Corrected. I thought this was passed in the stimulus. It was actually part of the first bailout.)

John Cole gets credit for firebaggers. Too bad I had to cut it from this post for accuracy. While the Obama administration issued the rules, it was technically passed with the bailout.

This is great news, Bob. It may be only one issue of a hundred health care reform issues, but it is huge to recognize mental illness as no different from any other illness.
