Right Wing Extremism
Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs rightfully abandoned the ranks of wingnuttia, and just like a red-faced brewskie-guzzling possessive boyfriend whose girlfriend is trying to leave him, wingnuts from around the web threatened him with physical violence. So he was forced to move into a gated community.
Does it really come down to this? Not only this year has the far-right threatened violence against the president -- carrying firearms to town hall rallies and the like -- but they've also called out the specific names of elementary school principals and exposed children to the whimsy of dangerous gun-toting teabaggers.
But now they're going after anyone who decides to leave their stupid gaggle of kneejerk racists, bullies, red-baiters and wackaloons.

RIGHT WING EXTREMISTS?? Sadly this has become redundant. Conversation and exchange of ideas has become confrontation and exchange of violence, both verbal and physical.
Those who claim to love America the most are choking it to death!

Can't we just play some loud recordings of Slim Whitman and cause the TeaBaggers heads to explode a la "Mars Attacks"?

Pathetic! I can't wait for the November elections. These stupid teabagger are going to split this tiny ass party into even smaller numbers. The media as usual will be the last to catch on. They're busy right now trying to convince us all that the Dems are doomed.
The Republicans are kissing the teabaggers' asses but, they want nothing to do with them. By supporting the lunatic teabagger candidates over establishment Republicans the wingnuts have set themselves up for another beating. I can't wait!

I went to school with a girl named Jamie Lindsay -- RHS by chance?

It's hard for me to feel bad for this guy since he helped foment this atmosphere. Many of his own posts were incendiary, but the comments he let fly on his website were just evil. And now all of a sudden he's shocked? Whatever. Reap what you sow buddy.

He may be reaping what he sowed, but this is terrible for all of us.
This is terrorism. Threatening violence to coerce political affiliation or to stifle dissent is terrorism.

I'm seeing it happen to another conservative blogger who's palling around with liberal bloggers. Her conservative readers are having a hissy fit and threatening to leave her. It's so high school. "I can't be friends with you if you're friends with them."
The anger of both the right and left fringe is scary.

Not new. Remember what happened to Kathleen Parker when she let a toe slip off the crazy wagon?
It's pitiful that the purported news agencies don't give much attention to domestic "terrorists" that aren't Muslim. How many of you even heard about the right wing nutbag that took hostages in a western VA Post Office last week? Ranting about the gubmint and Obama just can't make the national news.

@likala: I dunno about left wing anger being "scary" and equated with right wing behavior. Saying you won't vote for a democratic president is not akin to threatening to kill someone. Even if some far left person has said, suggested or done something I'm unaware of, it would be the exception to an otherwise bitter but certainly non-violent disagreement.

I wasn't equating anything, just expressing my feelings.

adding...if the angry left doesn't vote democrat so that we end up with another Bush or worse is a scary proposition.

God forbid, is this the 21st century? These teabaggers seem to be ever so proud in their ignorance and their 'back to medieval times' modus.
I thought we were in the days of enlightenment, but I guess for some they enjoy being stuck in retrogression.
As the saying went in the Grenada/coup/US invasion 'Forward Ever, Backward Never'!

@likala: I agree, that is a scary prospect but it's not grabbing your rifle and your bible and heading out to rid the world of the opposition. Didn't mean to jump down your throat : )

Not to worry RS.
As a life long democrat, I'd like to think all lefties are perfect and never would do harm to anyone. However, the angry fringe left is doing a lot of harm IMO.
The right wing, on the other hand, is off the rails with their anger and threats. Thankfully most are cowards hiding behind a computer screen. I bet they're not so brave when the FBI or SS shows up at their door to investigate.

As was pointed out above, most of these people are cowards, they are more than willing to make all the threats they can over the anonymity of the internet. The ones you have to be on the lookout for are the smaller minority of the nuts who are willing to actually carry out their threats.
