« McInerney Wants to Strip Search Muslims (Blacks) | Main | Mike Allen Redeems Himself For Now »

What Could Possibly Go Wrong?
I can't imagine what could possibly go wrong with government officials profiling and strip searching anyone who looks like this:

Obviously we know his affiliations now, but by the looks of him this could be a Christian man, an atheist man, a college student, a musician, a kid traveling home to see his family, a future president, a future scientist, a future doctor who cures cancer -- he could be an innocent American man with rights and liberties guaranteed under the Constitution.
But General McInerney wants the government to categorically label anyone who looks like this as a potential Muslim terrorist. And with such a measure, all progress on civil rights and civil liberties are summarily destroyed.
I wonder if the general ever suggested that we profile people who look like this:

Should we also profile anyone who looks like Timothy McVeigh?

Wasn't the unibomber also ex-military?
The anthrax that was used in the "anthrax attacks" came from a military base.
Major Hassan shot up 30 people and he was military.
Maybe we should strip-search everyone in the military! starting with McInerney!
OR... we could just be smart and rational and do good police work and let liberty be.
I wonder if all of these guys chasing shadows are wearing depends for those moments where they cannot contain their freight and have an accident.

strip searches based on race profiling will never happen. This isn't even a story. The more you give attention to it, the more power you give to the dumbfucks who talk about it.
Let's focus on what we CAN stop...namely the pedophilia that al Qaeda is guilty of. We can kill their efforts by alerting young Muslim boys to the fact that all AlQqaeda is, is a front for a massive boy-buggering scheme.
Al Qaeda sends their boys off to die, to hide the evidence of their pedophilia. If Al Qaeda's leaders ever really believed in their suicide theology, their leaders (like bin Laden) would have been the first to volunteer for death.
They are ALL just a bunch of sick, twisted boy-fuckers.
I know, I know; it sounds crazy.
No crazier than strip searching half the people in the world's airports.

PPP: strip searches based on race profiling will never happen. This isn't even a story.
You're right, strip searches based on racial or religious profiling will never happen. But it IS a story because someone (and I'm sure more people to follow) was stupid enough to suggest it.
... And yes, the pedophilia angle gives you a tinfoil hat charm, PPP.

Also, doesn't Abdulmutallab look like Michael Jackson pre-plastic surgery days?

Well I think I got a solution. Since water boarding "isn't torture" and the equivalent of "going for a swim", why don't we just waterboard all airline passengers? Give them a good 2-3 hour session and see if they are planning on doing something bad. It should work since waterboarding "provides reliable intel" - right? I bet it would do absolute wonders for airline profits also.

I just read the excellent book written about Pat Tillman by John Krakauer, and there are references in the book to some of these remote outposts straddling the Afghanistan/Pakistan border, where AMFs (Afghan Military) would have a young boy as the camp "cook". But the boy did much more than cook. PPP has a great point, in my opinion. That angle, if attacked successfully, could be the first domino in ostracizing these fanatics from the rest of the Muslim world, which would topple a bigger domino in a bigger game.

It is a story because a purported expert on a (purported) news channel that is the sole information source for a lot of people in this country made it an issue. You think this idea isn't being repeated today by many of those people who take everything on faux as gospel?

forgot to add: Taking Al Qaeda down via information (soft power)? Yeah, that doesn't excite the wingnuts or make enough people enough money.
