Nuclear Weapons

Losing the Middle with Nukes

I really hope the Republicans keep ratcheting up the "nuke 'em all!" language because they will absolutely lose the middle and the center-right in the process.

Please give us more Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann:

"If in fact there is a nation who is compliant with all of the rules ahead of time and they've complied with the United Nations on nuclear proliferation, if they fire against the United States a biological weapon, a chemical weapon or maybe a cyber attack, well then we aren't going to be firing back with nuclear weapons," Bachmann said. "Doesn't that make us all feel safe?"

"No!" shouted the crowd of thousands in Minneapolis.

What we're seeing is a pro-bomb position from the Republicans that we haven't seen in decades. A position that's waaaay far to the right of Ronald Reagan. The Republicans want the right to nuke any country from which even a disproportionately minor cyber attack might take place. They're talking about nuclear warfare with a recklessness and frivolity that extends far beyond any wacked out position they've taken in quite some time. Nuclear warfare!

Yep. As the Republicans continue to champion this sort of language, they will absolutely lose whatever forgiveness (and forgetfulness) the American people are offering them right now. So the mantra...

Keep going, Republicans! You're doing great!
