Quote of the Day

"Though Mitt Romney is considered to be a frontrunner for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, the national spotlight has forced him to repeatedly confront a major skeleton in his political closet: that as governor of Massachusetts he once tried to help poor, uninsured sick people." The Onion

Speaking of healthcare and poor people, yesterday on Twitter I asked Joe Scarborough about saving Medicare and reducing the deficit. I wrote: "...we have a choice: hurt the most vulnerable Americans with cuts, or "hurt" the super-rich with tax increases. Answer is obvious."

Also, "The super-rich can handle a 3-5% increase in the marginal rate (which they don't pay). Senior citizens *can't* handle benefit cuts." Ultimately, yes, if the debt is as big a deal as people say, then rich people have the ability to sacrifice far more than poor people and seniors. Sorry, Republicans, that's a fact. Close tax loopholes, hike the top marginal rate, reduce waste, fraud and abuse, and leave benefits alone. Solved. What's next?
