Quote of the Day

“I never thought I’d live in a country where we would debate whether we should endorse torture as an official policy. Was some information obtained through torture? Probably yeah. Could it have been obtained through more professional methods the intelligence professionals recommended? Almost certainly yes. We could have gotten it sooner and better.” Thomas Ricks on Liz Cheney's unhinged defense of torture

Insisting that torture is the only way to rapidly weed out a terrorist is not only childish, knee-jerk poopy-pants scaremongering, it's also been thoroughly shredded by the fact that it never produced the whereabouts of Bin Laden -- for nearly ten years. If it was so instantaneously effective, why was Bin Laden playing video games and popping Viagra for ten years?
