Accused Terrorist Ranted at Erickson's Place

I'm not suggesting that Erick Erickson's RedState.com website is a terrorist hang-out, but those alleged right-wing terrorists who were plotting ricin attacks against the government have spent some time in the comment section there.

While the men claim to be part of a militia group, online postings identified by ThinkProgress make clear that at least one of the men had railed against President Obama, health reform, and regurgitated right-wing conspiracies on the popular conservative blog, RedState.com.

Again, Erickson has nothing to do with this, but it illustrates the close connection between the far-right and domestic terrorism.

Those who foment this kind of hate are complicit.

Also. Too. Speaking of domestic terrorists, did anyone ever see anything about the political leanings of the guy who shot up his ex-wife’s workplace in Seal Beach? Everything about him screamed RWNJ and the story disappeared as fast as the time the guy who had a shoot-out with the cops on his way to shoot up the tides foundation.

It doesn’t surprise me that wingnuts who live on toxic websites, decide one day that they are going take action in their own hands.

I wouldn’t say Erickson or his website is directly responsible, but men like him are at the very least morally culpable. Because it’s the insane things they say that inspires men to join militias in the first place. Joining a militia is not a natural act, nor is plotting to kill people.

I differ with you on this.

If these people are allowed to carry on their ranting on a U.S. site, and particularly a site tied to mainstream media, the site/those who own the site, bear responsibility as well, if they allow this crap and/or encourage it.

    Which they did.

As GAPolitico notes, RedState editor Erick Erickson has a long history of fostering a blog filled with violent rhetoric and unhinged conspiracy theories. Earlier this year, Erickson suggested that “mass bloodshed” may be necessary if Roe v. Wade isn’t overturned, as Media Matters reported.

These far right fools are not far removed from being labeled as terrorists themselves.
