Epic Fail

Another Whopper From Team Romney

I hope the women of America are listening when Mitt Romney plainly states that he agrees with Komen's initial decision to defund Planned Parenthood, and that he also believes the government should defund Planned Parenthood.

When Minnesota radio host Scott Hennen asked Romney whether Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the leading U.S. anti-breast cancer charity, should continue to give Planned Parenthood grants for cancer screenings and mammogram referrals, Romney said, "I don't think so."

"I also feel that the government should cut off funding to Planned Parenthood," the former Massachusetts governor added. "Look, the idea that we're subsidizing an institution which is providing abortion, in my view, is wrong. Planned Parenthood ought to stand on their own feet, and should not get government subsidy.”

Way to be on the wrong side of an issue after the fact, Mitt. After the dust has already settled and the extremists have lost the fight, you throw your support in with them. Spectacular.

For the umpteenth time -- existing law already prohibits federal funds from being used to pay for abortion. The government is not subsidizing abortion. It is subsidizing cancer screenings, contraception, and other basic, essential services.

If you want to be really picky, you might mention the fact that Romneycare covers abortion. But I think that's a good thing, so I won't mention it.

Err... woops.
