This is why the gap between President Obama and Mitt Romney is beginning to widen. Independents have swung dramatically away from the Right and toward the Left as the Republican primary drags on.

The question comes to mind -- If Romney isn't winning independents, and he isn't winning the Lunatic Base, then who exactly is he winning? Where does his support come from?

Furthermore, what good is he as a candidate if he can't win either of those groups? The answer to that question is why he can't seal the deal. It's also why he will be one of the weakest candidates in recent memory even if he becomes the nominee.
