Is President Obama responsible for rising gas prices? Is any president? Of any country?

The short answer is no. At least, not under normal circumstances. Gas prices are rising globally, not just here in the United States where "drill, baby, drill" is hyped as a cure-all by the Republicans.

It's not a coincidence that a resurgence in the price of gas is accompanying the economic recovery. Consumer demand remains relatively low, however business demand is increasing and speculators are becoming loose with their cash again, hedging their bets on a true recovery.

Fortunately, the Obama Administration is moving in the right direction with renewable energy initiatives and higher fuel-economy standards, but only so much as can be done while climate-change deniers, free-market zealots, and Wall Street enablers have a strangle-hold on congress.
