Worst Persons in the World

Fox Orlando affiliate WOFL for this:

A Fox Orlando affiliate decribed Neo-Nazis as “a civil rights group” on a television broadcast and online. The group of Neo-Nazis, known as the National Socialist Movement, has been conducting armed patrols of the streets of Sanford, Florida, the town where Trayvon Martin was shot dead.

I do not think those words mean what Fox thinks they mean.

Incidentally, by way of disproving a Glenn Beck fueled bullshit idea, this group is called "The National Socialist Movement." I assure you, in no way shape or form do they have anything in common with the left or socialists in general. Why? Because the Nazi use of the word "socialist" was propaganda. As I've said dozens of times, the name "hot dog" has the word "dog" in it, but the food item doesn't have anything to do with actual dogs.

It sounds like WOFL and its reporter, Jennifer Bisram, didn’t do any background research. A high school journalist would get an F for the semester and probably be kicked off the school paper for a screw-up like this, but I predict nothing will happen to the *ahem* professionals associated with the story.

On Friday, Ashby linked to a story in Miami New Times on this.

“Whenever there is one of these racially charged events, Al Sharpton goes wherever blacks need him,” [Commander Jeff] Schoep says. “We do similar things. We are a white civil rights organization.”

If you’re dumb and lazy (like a certain reporter and her news director seem to be), you can overlook the “white” in that quote and just accept the group’s self-description.

Incidentally, the Miami NT story has been updated with this:

UPDATE: The Sanford Police Department says it has no evidence of neo-Nazis in the area. “We have not seen any neo-Nazis on patrol nor have we had any reports of them,” Sgt. David Morgenstern says. He adds there have been no signs of the New Black Panther Party either.

Golly, maybe this was all an elaborate PR hoax by the National Socialist Movement.

Fox is all about creating dissension and slandering the Democratic Party. They care nothing for truth, real news, or their own damned souls.

    They make me fucking sick.
