Election 2012

Romney Lie of the Day

Via Benen:

Romney also argued, "That stimulus he put in place, it didn't help private sector jobs; it helped preserve government jobs."

That's the exact opposite of reality.

Government jobs have actually been crumbling (real people with real lives -- not to be celebrated) while private sector jobs are increasing due to the stimulus. Ashby posted about this earlier in the week. To repeat:

A new Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report estimates that the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) increased the number of people employed by between 200,000 and 1.5 million jobs in March. In other words, between 200,000 and 1.5 million people employed in March owed their jobs to the Recovery Act. This estimate, by Congress’ non-partisan economic and budget analysts, is more comprehensive than the 160,000 jobs that ARRA recipients reported in April, CBO explains.

That was in March. It doesn't even take into account the broader impact of the stimulus on the economy and jobs.

Again, Mitt Romney is counting on his supporters to be ignorant and stupid. The most lie-based candidate for president ever.
