The War on Women. They're bringin' it back!
House Republicans introduced a bill yesterday to defund Planned Parenthood and allow the denial of birth control coverage, but apparently they also took time out of their busy job-creating schedule to advance a new abortion ban for D.C.
Republicans in the House Judiciary Committee advanced a bill Wednesday that bans abortions in the District of Columbia after 20 weeks. The bill, which angered DC residents, offers no exceptions for a woman’s health or cases of rape or incest. Sponsor Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) based the 20-week restriction on the disputed claim that fetuses feel pain after that point in development. Before the committee approved the ban, GOP lawmakers rejected several Democratic amendments that would have added more protections for women.
This is all about jobs. Obviously. And the deficit. This will definitely lower the deficit.
