Abortion Immigration Rick Perry Wingnuts

A Dispatch from the Outreach Seminar

It’s time for another update from the UFO convention.

Texas Governor Rick Perry was booed from the back of the room yesterday after he condescendingly referred to the idea that the Republican party must appeal to Hispanic voters which, according to him, is only true if you listen to the lamestream media!

Perry: Let me close by just sharing with you my take on conservatism in America. Now the popular media narrative is that this country has shifted away from conservative ideals, as evidenced by the last two presidential elections. That’s what they think. That’s what they say. That might be true if Republicans had actually nominated conservative candidates in 2008 and 2012! Might be true. But now we are told our party must shift appeal to the growing Hispanic demographic.

If Rick Perry believes they didn’t nominate a real conservative, what is the alternative? Rick Santorum was the runner-up in 2012. Is he the solution? Is Rick Perry the solution?

The Republican party savior, Marco Rubio, also made an appearance at CPAC yesterday and managed to take a swipe at gay marriage, abortion, and climate change within the span of a minute.

RUBIO: I respect people who disagree with me on certain things, but that means they have to respect me too. Just because I believe states should have the right to define marriage in a traditional way does not make me a bigot. Just because we believe that life, all human life, all life, all human life is worthy of protection in every stage of its development doesn’t make you a chauvinist. In fact, the people who are actually close minded in American politics are people who love to preach about the certainty of science in regard to our climate, but ignore the absolute fact that life begins at conception.

Actually, believing that other people should not be allowed to live their lives the way they see fit does make you a bigot, and decrying those who believe in the documented science of climate change by stating unequivocally that life begins at conception makes you a demagogue and a rube whose opinions are indistinguishable from the likes of Steve King and Michele Bachmann.

Anyone who was entertaining the idea of Marco Rubio ushering in a new era of charisma for the GOP should probably convene the beltway conclave and begin the search for a new Pope.
