“We’re in Our Own World Up Here”

Following up on yesterday’s poll that 44 percent of Republicans believe armed rebellion may be necessary in the near future — here’s what that looks like in practice.

These are the concerns of New Hampshire State Representative Edmond Gionet (R) as expressed to Senator Kelly Ayotte who recently sided against expanded background checks.

One of the things that concerns my constituents — the majority of my constituents –- is the appointments that are now being made in Washington by our President and the way he is handling the illegal immigrants, nationalizing them and giving them the opportunity to vote, and wanting to keep track of our guns. They are worried that they are going to have to use these guns because of our own government. Now is there anything in Washington that says — any telltale signs that maybe we might be headed for an internal revolution given the fact that these kinds of things are going on? This is what’s said in the groups that I sit in.

This is a state representative who clearly doesn’t know any better than his clueless constituents that the nation is not headed for civil war, and he’s asking a U.S. senator if his constituents are correct. And for her part, Kelly Ayotte could only respond with “I hope not.”

It gets worse.

“This morning, I was down at the Lions Club, at McDonald’s and this [photo of President Obama with Sec. of Transportation-Designate Anthony Foxx] was given to me. And they’re saying all the key positions… That’s the latest one. But even key positions within the White House are going to people that are going to promote his agenda. And this agenda doesn’t appear to be helping us to the extent that it should be. It might be that we’ve got the wrong slant on things, but here again we’re in our own world up here. We understand what we like, the lifestyles that we’ve had, the way the country should be run. And it’s just not happening.”

He was handed a cryptic photo at the Lions Club, at McDonalds, where serious discussion takes place among serious people.

I wasn’t aware that cabinet appointments promoting the agenda of the administration was a grave trespass, but as Edmond Gionet notes, they’re ‘in their own world up there.’

And, apparently, in their world, the president is “nationalizing” illegal immigrants, giving them the right to vote, and tracking our guns. That probably doesn’t sound like the way they feel the country should be run, but fortunately for them that isn’t how it’s being run.

While you and I may be aware that none of those things are true and that, in fact, the Manchin-Toomey bill for expanded background checks would have prohibited the government from establishing a gun registry, those who spend their days listening to Hate Radio, watching Fox News, or listening to the protestations of their gullible representatives who believe everything you read on the internet is true may not be aware that they’ve been sold a bill of goods.

No one actually expects yokels to rise up in armed insurrection, but it only takes one unstable person who’s been fed a steady diet of delusion to kill innocent people.
