The Media

Journalism

When I boldly predicted that Wendy Davis’ gubernatorial campaign would draw out the misogynists, my cynicism wasn’t great enough to lead me to believe that would include reporters. That’ll teach me not to underestimate the He-Man Woman Haters Club.

National Review Online reporter Andrew Stiles this week launched a website that described future Texas gubernatorial candidate as “Democrat For Late Term Abortion And Governor.”

The website, ElectWendyDavis.com, is registered under Stiles’ name, and Stiles tweeted a link to page twice on Thursday night. It has since been taken down and replaced with a note that reads, “Under Construction.”

This is why I heartily chuckle when anyone suggests to me that conservative publications such as National Review or The Daily Caller should be treated the same as any other “news” organization.
