Delusions of Grandeur

Representative Morgan Griffith (R-VA) concedes that defaulting on the national debt would be “distasteful, unpleasant and not appropriate,” but it’s for your own good.

“We have to make a decision that’s right long-term for the United States, and what may be distasteful, unpleasant and not appropriate in the short run may be something that has to be done,” he said. [...]

“I will remind you that this group of renegades that decided that they wanted to break from the crown in 1776 did great damage to the economy of the colonies,” Griffith said. “They created the greatest nation and the best form of government, but they did damage to the economy in the short run.”

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of poor people, children, and employees of the state.

Morgan Griffith appears to be implying he and his colleagues are determined to save America from itself by destroying America. They’re here to take their country back, because trying to defund a law that offers affordable healthcare to previously uninsured persons is just like revolting against the British monarchy.

The Kamikaze Caucus is hyped on their own bullshit.
