Healthcare Poll

Gallup: Uninsured Dropped by More Than 1 Point in March

A new survey released today by Gallup seemingly corroborates healthcare enrollment figures released by the Obama administration and the last minute surge of signs-ups.

The uninsured rate has been falling since the fourth quarter of 2013, after hitting an all-time high of 18.0% in the third quarter — a sign that the Affordable Care Act, commonly referred to as “Obamacare,” appears to be accomplishing its goal of increasing the percentage of Americans with health insurance coverage. Even within this year’s first quarter, the uninsured rate fell consistently, from 16.2% in January to 15.6% in February to 15.0% in March. And within March, the rate dropped more than a point, from 15.8% in the first half of the month to 14.7% in the second half — indicating that enrollment through the healthcare exchanges increased as the March 31 deadline approached.

Not that enrollment figures were ever in serious doubt, but this should silence at least some of the Enrollment Truthers who have accused the administration of “cooking the books.”

That is unless the Obama administration and Gallup are in cahoots. Unskew the polls!

When have “Truthers” of any stripe ever been “silence[d]” by anything?

Let’s not forget: We’re dealing with people for whom anything that does not validate their ideology/opinions/prejudices/voting preference is by definition false, illegitimate, made-up, and/or the product of insidious bias. Any “evidence” that does not validate the conspiracy is, by definition, part of the conspiracy.

… this should silence at least some of the Enrollment Truthers …

No, they’ll just move on to the next set of Fox-approved talking points without skipping a beat. You couldn’t silence these people with a ball gag and a roll of duct tape (not that I would know about such things, of course).
