Abortion Congress Senate

It’s All About Jobs

House Republicans introduced a 20-week abortion ban on the very first day of the new session of Congress, but Senate Republicans weren’t far behind.

Senator David Vitter one-upped (four-upped?) his colleagues in the House on the following day by unveiling four abortion bills, including yet another assault on Planned Parenthood.

Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) introduced four bills on Wednesday that would bar Planned Parenthood from receiving federal family planning funds, require all abortion providers to have admitting privileges at a local hospital, ban abortions performed on the basis of gender, and allow hospitals, doctors and nurses to refuse to provide or participate in abortion care for women, even in cases of emergency.

Now that Republicans control both chambers of Congress, it would be a good time to remind everyone that President Obama and a handful of Senate Democrats are the only thing standing between us and the realization of some truly awful shit.

The next president will have the same responsibility and holding on to the White House will be just as important as ever.
