I suppose Doctor Ben Carson deserves some credit for being pro-vaccination, even though that should be a standard that we expect from any doctor not named Rand or Ron, but make no mistake -- Ben Carson is still completely batshit.
Carson says we've lost control of the situation because diseases that were previously vanquished have been revived by immigrants.
"These are things that we had under control. We have to account for the fact that we now have people coming into the country sometimes undocumented people who perhaps have diseases that we had under control," he said. "So now we need to be doubly vigilant about making sure that we immunize them to keep them from getting diseases that once were under control."
To say that parents should vaccination their children but then absolve them of their responsibility by shifting the blame to immigrants is to take one step forward and then two steps backwards.
This isn't just Carson's angle. Much of modern conservatism is centered around making people feel better about themselves for horrible reasons.
It's well established that Central American countries actually have slightly higher rates of vaccination than the United States.
